MarkJ is on a distinguished road
Default My name is Mark and I am addicted to carbs....

In the past couple of months I have had several mis-starts with Atkins. I have begun the induction period of Atkins this morning and I know tha tthe next few days are going to be tough. I feel I have indulged too much in the past few months and just need to get my arse in gear. 2 months ago we had a son and about 2 months before the baby came I veared off Atkins, stopped going to the gym and pretty much began gaining weight. I also drank wayyyy too much wine during this time and feel bloated and gross. Right now I am dousing my body with water (which used to be all I would drink), keeping carbs at 20g/day and following the plan.

I am going to force myself to hit the gym tonight - even if it is only for 20 minutes - I pay a lot for it and 4 months have gone wasting away....

Please with me luck! Any tips would be appreciated and any motivational tools would be great - any good Podcasts, etc.

thanks!!!

Hi Mark,

Welcome back to induction! I'm glad you've decided to get back into it. Hang in there are before you know it the next couple of days will become much easier. Just don't give in...it's not worth it.

One suggestion from me would be that you re-evaluate the last time you were on Atkins and identify the reasons you veared off....what lead up to you vearing off? Identifying these reasones...or temptations, or feelings are going to become very important in helping you stay focussed and not vear off again. It's not something you want to keep slipping up with and I think if you evaluated the reasons you did it before, they will become valuable tools to help you through the rough spots this time. Lets face it, we all have rough periods from time to time and temptations, so it's important to equip ourselves ahead of time with the tools that will get us through those rough spots. Keep posting here as well, let us all know how you're doing and if you're having a rough day, come here for support....it's most helpful! Everyone here cares and is very supportive.

Exercise is very important...great to hear you're making it to the gym tonight....you will want to also develope a plan for the nights you aren't able to make it out to the gym....perhaps you can take your darling new baby around the block for a walk...or invest in some weights you can lift at home as well as some other home workouts...that way if you can't make it to the gym for some unknown reason...you have a back up plan and your progress continues.

Keep drinking that water, it helps emensely!

Welcome, it's great to meet you...I'm looking forward to hearing your updates!

All the best,
Sarina

Thanks Sarina - the main reason I fell off the wagon is that I do 100% of the cooking in the house and my wife was eating all kinds of foods that I wanted (pregnant women and their cravings!) and I just decided to eat some and then more and more and here I am. My wife usually loves LC so it will be easy to transition back to that in her eyes - I just need to DO it! Today was good

Hey Mark!

Sorry I haven't logged in for a while and haven't posted since the last time we spoke. How are you making out...how are things going? I'm glad you had a good day the last time you posted. I'm interested in hearing how things are going! How's the eating going and the gym routine working out for you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

All the best!
Sarina
