Ketostix??

I keep reading about ADBBers taking them, but what do they do? Are we all supposed to be taking them?

ketostix are not something you take like a supplement. they are small test strips that you urinate on, and they tell you if you are in ketosis. the process in which your body is burning fat. the ketostix are found at most drug stores near the diebetic testing supplies.

they are about $10 for 100 of them (at Target) but i have read on here not to waste your money.. of course that was after i bought them.. they are just one more thing we can obsess over... like weighing every day or measuring all the time.. if you do the WOE correctly you will be fine and lose weight hope this helps a bit

I find that during induction/extended induction, it is quite frustrating to not know if I'm in ketosis or not.... I don't get bad breath/strong smelling urin from it.... so I like to buy them.... even if you aren't losing, if you are in ketosis, you know it's coming!!!

I use the Ketostix to test foods. I have been on the darkest purple for 2 weeks now. A freind told me that if you eat in a restaurant and want to be sure the meal is "safe" you can check the ketostix 4 hours after you eat. If you had an evil meal filled with hidden sugar it will knock you out of ketosis all together. This happened to me once in the second week after eating a new york strip steak at a local restaurant. Turns out they marinate it with brown sugar.....who knew!
