| Yes, I've tried them. When you first open the package they have a fishy smell. Just rinse them real well and that gets rid if it. I didn't think they were too bad. They kind of remind me of tofu. They're kind of flavorless and take on whatever taste you put with it. I've only tried it with speghetti sauce but there's a bunch of recipes on their website that I'd like to try if I decide to order some more. They have allot of fiber so they're real filling.

| You can get 2 kinds of shiratake noodles, one with added tofu and one just made from glucoman (similar to jicama and often called konjac, konnyaku or japanese yam bean) I have only found the ones without tofu in UK and they are a bit rubbery but good in stirfries in place of egg noodles I thought. They dont absorb the liquid like pasta does so cut down on any added liquids. They would count towards your 2-3 cup or 'salad' veggies on induction, if they are the ones with tofu in them that tofu counts as part of your cheese allowance (Dr Atkins called tofu 'soy cheese').

| No - the tofu/konjac ones are 'legal' but you do have to account for the tofu as part of your cheese 'ration'.

| interesting info here...I used to love egg noodles, and it's been a while since I have had stir-fry, maybe I'll give them a shot? I'm curious about the fishy smell....why would it have that? Thanks everyone for the info! I have a better understanding of what this stuff might be like now.

| The ones that are a mix of konjac and tofu would be part veg and part cheese.

| I eat them about 2-3 times a month, they are not noodles, they are vegetables ( or cheese, if with tofu !! ) in any case, totally legal food.My DH cannot tell if they are REAL noodles or not. Well... honestly... same with me. I love them, I am not a big fan of any noodles anyway, so for me they are just wonderful food. Dui |
