Default Whipping cream Vs Heavy Cream

For some reason where I live (canada) I cannot for the life of me find the heavy cream that I see in alot of low carb recipes. There's whipping cream but I don't believe they are 36%. I accidentally bought half and half which I discovered has milk in it so it's sitting in the fridge now, rotting and unused.
Is whipping cream an acceptable substitute?

Heavy Cream does not exist up here in Canada...in Supermarkets anyway. Whipping cream is the only alternative and really the only difference between the two is a slightly higher butterfat content in Heavy Cream.

The stuff I buy is called heavy whipping cream. It says it has 0 carbs per 2 tbsp.

Thanks for the replies! I've been very hesitant about buying the whipping cream and thus depriving myself of alot of yummo sounding recipes but now I can!

I checked the carbs on both regular and heavy cream at the store and they were both zero carbs, so either one is fine. WOW!!!! I never thought of diluting it for milk!!! Excellant idea!

Just watch out which brand of whipping cream you buy because I know for certain Beatrice has dextrose added (just to piss me off I am sure) and has 1 carb per tbsp. Of course I can't find anywhere that sells a different brand. I am pretty sure Reids is okay but it has been a few years since I checked. I buy the Beatrice but limit myself to one "white" decaf per day. I wouldn't dream of baking with it because those carbs add up quickly!

We only have Land O Lakes here at our local stores. I'd love to find an organic cream.

We are dairy farmers so my husband HATES to see purchased dairy products in our fridge. How the heck do I make sure that the cream on top is heavy? LOL
