Default Ovarian Cyst

Hi all - well, I ended up in the ER this past weekend with such severe pain that I thought I had kidney stones or appendicitis. After many tests, they found a small ovarian cyst (completely fluid filled, no worries of cancer)

This is causing havoc on my diet. I feel miserable and am in alot of pain so, my diet has been off. Does anyone have any ideas for food that I may be able to fill in (I've been able to keep oatmeal and soup down) that would keep me on track. I don't want this to be a reason I get off course, but have not been doing so well the past couple of days.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ugh, I'm no help with the food but I just wanted to commismerate! I feel your pain, literally! I ended up in the emergency room all day with one of those last year! Don't you know it happened when my husband was away on business to top it off. Here I was scared to death they were going to tell me my appendix was rupturing and my husband was three states away and freaking out cause I was at the emergency room!

Not an enjoyable experience! I hope the pain subsides soon for you! Hugs!

I will take the comissery Do you mind me asking how long the pain lasted for you? I'm going on day 4 and while it's reducing, I'm still not feeling 100%. Just looking for someone else who's gone through this

Thanks for the thoughts!

Its been a year so I'm a bit foggy but I want to say about a week. By the end it was just kind of a nagging ache. The hospital actually gave me a prescription for loritab for the pain but I ended up just taking 4 extra strength tylenol and that seemed to help.

Sucks you have to deal with this, just take it easy as you can and I promise it will go away eventually!

Thanks. Yes, the prescribed me the same and also prescription strength Ibuprofen. I've only taken one dose, as I'm not a fan of medicine (have not taken the Lortab)...My doctor did tell me to be careful of the hormones in foods b/c an increase in hormones helps to lend to these.

I'm off to go stew about the pain some more :-(

Thank you for your information. Here's hoping this subsides quickly.

Sorry to hear your having such a hard time :-( hopefully the pain will subside soon.

Your best bet, if you really can't find or eat anything that's induction friendly is to just eat OWL and maintenance foods that you can find. Fruits veggies, whole grains and try to stay away from sugar and white starches. Plain oatmeal and broth based soups are both good choices for now if that's what you have (though the soup might be high in sodium).

Take a look at the OWL lists for ideas (trying the lower rungs first ie yogurt and berries etc.), then once your better you can start again where you left off.

Your best to eat higher rung whole-foods than to go off plan completely while your ill.

Hope your feeling better soon!

You might try a bowl of flax meal instead of oatmeal. I like 1/3C flax to 1/2C water. Let it sit for a few minutes to thicken. Some people don't like the texture, but if it doesn't bother you, the flax has more fiber, more good fatty acids, and fewer carbs than oatmeal.

You can make soups out of any cooked meat and/or vegetables by purééing it and adding cream and/or butter.

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to say thank you for all of the support...the PM received were wonderful; as was the advice here.

Unfortunately, I've had a rough couple of weeks. Apparently, I am allergic to the Iodine that I had to take for my CAT scan. I ended up breaking out in hives and they blistered and it has just been ugly, ugly, ugly. I am starting to feel back to normal and know that I have to get back to the way of life that makes me feel great.

So -- wish me luck this week to getting back to 100% and getting back on the wonderful WOL that Atkins is.

I still won't be able to work out for another few days, but I can certainly go back to Induction! (which is what I think I will do for a week)

Thanks again.
