Tammy, what a great idea! I no longer use the scale except once per month. Weight can fluctuate so much! I only weigh in first thin in AM when most water retention is gone and I have an empty stomach. Stay true to keeping the scales hidden, and consider it a "treat" when you use it! Good luck and welcome to this great WOE. If you stick to plan, and eat enough that you don't get hungry you will have great success and much happiness!

I totally agree! The scale isn't your best measure of anything and can truly deter you from progress at times. I may weigh this week...its been a few..or not... but the clothes get looser and I see the changes so if I feel like it-I'll weigh and measure or maybe just measure. Do what works for you. As long as you are doing what makes you feel healthy..physically, mentally, emotionally, spirtually..good on you..full speed ahead!

Staying off the scale has helped me stay focused on what I am doing instead of what I weigh. I find that if I am concentrating on following the program instead of the numbers, I stay more motivated because those disappointing days just dont happen.

I agree. For me at least, I know that my eating has changed dramatically. Therefore, the weight loss will happen. It's absolutely impossible for it not to happen. It's a ME against IT thing (inside my head). When I started my program I didn't even weigh. After a week or two I weighed. I weigh once a week as a treat, for now. I consider weight an 'indicator' only and have faith in the knowledge that I WILL shrink if I eat 'this' and not 'that'. Plus, as you work out your muscles get bigger and burn more calories but weigh more...thus the 'indicator' approach to the scale.

| This time around, I like giving up the scale. I use it once a week, now. But I used to weigh obsessivly. It felt like I had traded an obssession with food for an obsession with dieting and weighing.

I am so glad I read your thread. I almost gave up after seeing 112 for a whole month. but then I realized that my clothes were waay looser and even today my jeans were so loose I could have taken them off without unbuttoning them. Go figure...

I totally agree with staying off the scales.....I don't know what it is, even though my clothes are fitting much better......if I don't see a move on the scales...It's a downer. So I get on maybe once a week. To get to the first post...I too have read the book The Secret. Great book. Positive thinking is the key. Good Luck to everyone.
