| I was wanting to have one to replace b-day cake. That seems to be frowned upon here on the boards because it is not "wholesome" food. :-( I am still thinking about it but will probably stick with the lesser of the two evils and go with dang sugar free jello. | I too had one bar daily thinking that it was only 2 or 3 net carbs but then after a while I realized that it was causing me to get wicked sugar cravings where I was looking for something sweet all the time. Had to quit those---they really are too good to be true, IMO. |

| Eh, I wouldn't. They're ok as an every once in awhile/desperate situation thing, but I wouldn't eat those every day and definitely not twice a day. For one thing, they definitely stall me and for another they mess up my stomach like nobody's business. If you don't mind being on the toilet all day long, then go for it.

| Some people may be able to eat those bars. Others get cravings and stall with them. This board follows the 2002 Atkins book and during induction it is important to ONLY eat products from the allowed food list. This will help new Atkineers to get rid of cravings, get into ketosis and develop new healthy habits. The problem with the bars (and the shakes) is that they contain things we should not be eating on induction. Also (and this is my beef) I am not comfortable with how they count the carbs in those bars. How many carbs are there really in them? They have selected to not count the glycerin they add as carbs - that is somewhat contriversal. In my opinion, hanging around here for some months, I think the people who will be successful on this diet are those that are willing to really follow the principles of the diet and start really fresh and new. I recommend it. Trying to get away with eating 'sweet' things on Atkins is not the way to do it. Try to liberate yourself. Two weeks is not a long time. It could change your life forever!!

| Even Dr. Atkins admitted to having the occasional, albeit small, slice of cake or something sweet on special occasions. I will not ever cut those things out for good. I like the atkins diet so far and hope to stay on it. But I know that I will NEVER not want to have a sweet every now and then. That is why I am accumulating so many of the "dessert" recipes from the boards here. Which only goes to prove that I am not alone in wanting to keep some of life's sweet treasures in our diets as there are several recipes to choose from. Donna |

| But Atkins was not on induction when he did that. Here is the 5th rule of induction (pg 123 in DANDR) Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing! Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.

Funny thing is though, but not funny ha ha, is that he has actually put my weight loss to shame. He is up to twenty pounds lost now! I tell him how proud I am of him and that he is doing such a great job....but man oh man..everytime he gets off that scale grinning, I just want to say " shut the h*** up! He's killing me. Not a competition, I know, but doesn't feel very good since my progress through las Saturday could not even begin to stand in the same room with his.

| Ultimately, its up to you.... try it out for a week, and then try a week without the 2 bar a day plan and see which is better. Its probably going to slow your loss, not stop it....depending on your dicipline and your activity level. However, I think many of the successful adbb'ers would highly reccomend you stay away from the bars altogether.
