No, I don't recommend them to jumpstart your weight loss.

Eating foods according to where you are at on this way of eating for life, coupled with an exercise regime that you choose to do, will be the best way to jump start weight loss. Your body needs to learn to tell when it is truely hungry and you need to be able to learn what foods work for you. Using shakes and other products may not help either lesson that you really want to learn, and the basis of this way of eating, in order to lose weight the safe way.

In my opinion, if you're truley set on using the products, read the lables to match the ingredients to the OWL rungs. Not every product that the Atkins marketing exploit works for every rung that Dr. A originally intended the plan to be followed (that we follow here) .

Hope that helps

Patty, here is the finite list of allowable foods for Induction so that you can check to see whether shakes are listed.
Atkins

Ultimately, it is a judgment call, and your mileage may vary.

I agree... the shakes may not be the "best" way to go, but if it helps keep you on track, I say go for it.

I used the Atkins shakes every day for breakfast (the previous "canned" version). I have a hard time eating in the a.m. and they worked for me. I did not stall. I don't use the canned shakes anymore, but now make my own version. I mix a good quality protein powder, some 1/2 and 1/2, some cold espresso, and ice and mix. Tastes like a Starbucks frozen Frap.

Good luck!

I didn't touch the shakes until I was well into OWL. Now when I really need a treat I freeze a vanilla shake and then blend it with a teaspoon of organic peanut butter. So yummy!!! As far as replacing a meal with the shake...no way! You need to eat real food for your meals. To jumpstart your diet have some steak!! You will be satisfied and feel great.

my first time around, I drank literally hundreds and hundreds of the shakes, and they did work well for me. My second time I've been incorporating them more moderately. The benefits ( to me ) were the balanced nutrition and mainly the convenience, as I am a lazy food-preparer, and these new ones are easy to take on the go.
I do agree however that they should not be meal replacements, and also I think we all know intuitively that liquid calories, for whatever reason, no matter how "friendly" do not satisfy the way that real food does.

I use them for breakfast several times a week when I am in a hurry and don't have time to cook. Since I was not a breakfast eater before Atkins, I don't have an issue with morning hunger and in fact sometimes it is hard for me to stomach "eating" breakfast. I think that it is fine and has worked fine for me.

This is a great post. I was wondering about these and the bars. I don't have much to lose at all. If you see my intro - I broke a bone doing ballet in January and I can't lose the 10lbs I gained!!
I am one of those lean protein, never eat fruit without a piece of light string cheese or a protein serving, whole grains, water addicted people. So ditching my whole grains is already a weird challenge for me. But I have discovered I LOVE hard boiled eggs and I can still eat salad!! My "dressing" I use anyway is only 1 net carb - yay!!.

I KNOW this will work for me.

I figured "All Phases" shakes and bars will come in handy when running from the office to the dance studio and not fainting at the barre before I get home and cook dinner???

For some reason I have trouble with the shakes and bars and they seem to stall my weight loss. Every time I use them, I start gaining. So, I've stopped. Another great breakfast is whipping cream with a diet soda....very yummy!

I think one reason many people have problems losing weight on induction while eating the bars is that the ingredients contained in them are not induction-allowed!
