| elizellen knows her stuff alright, it's about planning. I'm starting school next week and I've spent my 2 weeks of induction learning how to plan for snacks to take with me, as I'll have classes from 9-4 3x/week and 9-2 2x/week. I don't plan to let my school schedule impair my weight loss goals. At the cafeteria they have hamburgers (toss the bun), salad bar (use just the right ingredients and bring my own dressing) and that's about it, so I'll mostly be brown bagging. I have to arrive at school by 8:15 to get a parking place, so I'll be getting up at 6 every day to cook myself a yummy bfast. Don't cave to the skinny girls eating sugar. Most of them will be fat by the time they are 25 if they continue that direction. Buddy up with the other student, if only to trade menu plans and snack tips. Be a trend setter! (easier said than done) Or try this line if they give you guff "I'm allergic to sugar"

| Here's a thread you may be interesed in. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ht=veggies+mea Also, http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...as-school.html (Snack lunch ideas for school) I like to make extra at dinner just so I can take it with me the next day when going out and about. String cheese doesn't have to be refrigerated. Something you can stick in your pocket or back pack. I like olive and stuffed celery with cream cheese too. You can make flaxmeal bread for sandwiches to take. If you need a recipe i'll get you one. Hard boiled eggs are a great to go snack aswell. Turkey roll ups are nice stuffed with cream cheese. Eli is right. Plan, Plan, Plan! You don't want to set yourself up for pitfalls. Depend on yourself for your food. Make your lunch the night before, ready to take with you the next day. That way you're going into your day with confidence that you'll be eating healthy. You can start a thread for more ideas for lunches to go. I'm sure there are folks here with lots of ideas for you. Best of health and lite to you. Sincerely, Sherri

First off: YAAAY SCHOOL!!! You're 19 -- does that make you a college freshman? What are you studying? Did you know that mental exercise in the form of studying actually makes you burn more calories? If ever there was motivation to study, that's it! Second: Skinny girls who pressure you to just relax and have a candy bar do so because it is, in fact, THEY who feel self conscious about what they are eating. They envy the fact that you are taking a healthier higher road and if they can coax you into doing as they do, they'll feel better about themselves. Trust me. I used to be one of those girls back in undergrad. Third: Keep your water bottle with you in class and drink from it during lecture. It will keep you from feeling so hungry. In addition take a small insulated lunch bag (just clip it to your backpack) with many ziploc baggies of snacks to have throughout the school day. Things like snack cheeses, meats, veggie slices -- so you have an assortment from which to choose. Dip into the baggies on breaks and keep going. In addition to keeping you on track, it will save you tons over paying for snacks and food on campus. $3 here and there adds up fast! By the time you get home you should still be tided over enough not to snarff everything in sight. Take 30 mins to make some chicken or something you enjoy and live happily ever after with the mental image of the "skinny mini's" as future sumo contenders.

| I agree with all of the above! Bring your goodies with you, so when hunger strikes you've got the good stuff with you and you won't fall prey to the Demon Junk Food Machines or, worse, skinny girls scarfing sugar! BTW, you will have your revenge ... those scrawny girls will not stay that way, eating like that. Trust me ... I speak from experience!
