| I often have cookies baking in my house. This is what I have learned to tell myself. If I eat a cookie...I will want another cookie...if I eat a second cookie...I will want a third. I will eventually stop but an hour later I will sure want another cookie. Then it came to me.. if I am going to want a cookie..why don't I just want the first one. Learning that giving in to a craving wasn't going to end the craving made something in my brain click. When my family shares a dessert at a restaurant and they say something like "one bite won't hurt" I say "One bite won't help either". One bite will never end a craving for me..most likely it will have the opposite effect. Dieters compare themselves to alcoholics often and I understand why. One beer wouldn't end a craving for them..it would lead to further cravings. Halloween candy is all around me. Recess...oh so yummy!! I know that I won't eat a single piece of candy this year. I don't really see the point. Good job resisting!! Good luck at Halloween.

This was the first real intrusion into my brave new world. There are still some cookies here in the house... not so many now, none in me, and I will freeze the rest. (they are the youngster's) Doing good... doing good....

Its so true to because its not like we are gonna eat the cookie and say " oh i feel better, now i dont want cookies anymore" ( haha yeah right) if that were the case nobody would overeat and nobody would be overweght. Plus for me i dont just jump back into ketosis right away, so if i eat something bad its like a week before i start loosing again .. and that sucks Just say no ... to cokies ;-) |

| Good job resisting!! I do a lot of baking for friends and family. Last week was rough because I had to bake something just about everyday. Since I've been on Atkins, I've found myself not even having the urge to taste what I've made a lot of the time. However, when I do get tempted, I just tell myself that I cannot erase progress. That usually helps me...or DH running in screaming "NO YOU CAN'T EAT THAT!" lol Good thing he's on Atkins too!

| the danger is over... I personally touched the remaining cookies, bagging them in 2 cookie portions for the young one, and popped them in the freezer. THEN i went to the open house, and my older girl's advisory teacher kept insisting that we have some oreos... we declined, declined again, told her we three were on a diet, and so she started in on my daughter and tried to make her have some cookies.. we placated her by telling her the young one could have some... Then she made us accept this litle origami goody-bag filled with Hershey's kisses. I GAVE away chocolate tonight, and pawned the goody-bag off on another teacher. YAY ME! phew.

| or DH running in screaming "NO YOU CAN'T EAT THAT!" lol lol! This thread sounds a lot like the quit smoking forum. Sorry that I bring that up so much ...but I see a pattern in the way some of us eat..as an addiction just like cigs. When I first quit smoking I distanced myself from smoke. Asked people to please understand but I can not be around smokers right now...my quit was too important to me! Most people understood! I don't think I would bake a cake right now... Many hugs to all! | I looked up this thread today because I have been baking all day for my daughter's bake sale. I thought of you (Kellen) all day. I kept telling myself to remember my own advice. I made pumpkin cookies..oh my. It was hard because I really needed to taste them to see if they were ok. I iced them and I was just eyeballing the ingredients in the frosting. I finally would taste, spit, and brush. My DH asked me why my toothbrush was in the kitchen and I told him not to ask. tee hee
