| I know my muscles start to burn instantly now, whereas before it would take 15 minutes or so before it would start. Don't have a clue what that means though!

| Course, it only works if you do it. Here I am sitting reading Atkins posts instead of actually getting my bum on the treadmill, lol! |

Your workouts will definitely be different when on atkins. I especially notice it while lifting. You have much less simple energy to burn because of the low carb eating approach. Lactic acid builds up much faster, so your muscles definitely burn faster. I am much stronger over the last three months, but have much less muscular endurance with lifting. As far as the cardio goes, I "burn" much quicker. I put a photo of myself at my heaviest on the falling stairs to keep me going. Mind over matter. THere I go rambling on again. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

| When I was brisk-walking twice as long and twice as often as I do now, all the starches and sugars I was eating - even though my calories were half then what they are now! - sabotaged me, & I simply never lost an ounce. But I kept with it, thinking that caloric reduction always meant weight loss for no matter who, and no matter what. Wait - what's the definition of insanity again? However, once I started eliminating the starches while cutting the length & frequency of my cardio sessions in half, BOOM, the weight was off 5 months later. I stuck with it, & it's stayed off ever since. So, yes, I would say Atkins makes my workouts matter more! But really, I credit diet for 90% of my success & maintenance. I certainly could not get away with how little I do fitness-wise with anything other than Atkins.

| I didn't exercise one lick the first month and the weight fell off. Now I have been back to the gym and was doing cardio and weights-- then I noticed that I gained an inch on my thighs and calves! So I am just doing a little cardio and will wait and see what happens. Hmm.

| From what others have written you might be better off lifting weights than doing a lot of cardio as it is supposed to help you 'exchange' fat for muscle. Though there is nothing wrong with some cardio to keep your general fitness up.
