| Hi Casey! dont lose hope, even though it can get very frustrating. i know how u feel, and because we're smaller in size, it will take us ALOT longer to lose the weight. i've been struggeling for the past 7 weeks. and i lost was 8 pounds in my first week of induction, up until now. and i dont even cheat. i only eat legal things, yet my weigth keeps fluctuating up or down just like you. try to up ur fat intake. i was told to do that at one point, and it kinda worked. i felt fuller for longer. i also would like to get into those true religions and feel good about :P

| Are you losing inches? Dr. Atkins wrote that the loss of inches was more indicative of body fat loss than the loss of pounds. Furthermore, he wrote that a weight loss plateau was defined as no loss of inches or pounds. So for Atkins, losing inches is the same as losing pounds. You shouldn't go lower than your BMR. BMR is the amount of calories your body needs just to perform the basic life functions like breathing, heart beating, etc. Once you start doing more than breathing, heart beating, etc. your body will require more calories to perform those activities. So eating below your BMR may signal to your body that you are starving, and the more it will hold onto whatever body fat and body protein you have.

| And for those people who do not have a large amount of weight to lose (say over 50 pounds) it seems to me from what I see posted here and on other lowcarb boards that staying on induction for longer than the first 2 weeks does not speed up weight loss and they only carry on losing when they move to OWL.

I have been considering when I should be moving to OWL - this Thursday will be four weeks on Induction. I was going to wait until I got <150 lbs (149 is my first mini-goal) and then go to OWL, but frankly, I'm getting bored (I'm losing on my measurements, but I'm hanging in there at 153 lbs. for almost two weeks now). I'd actually LIKE to eat more veggies than I am right now - I got an extra salad of baby spinach with crumbled bacon with my name on it! Methinks it's OWL time. It's funny what people consider "large" - my total goal of 30 pounds is pretty big to *me* (I'm relatively short, 5'2", so on me, that *is* quite a bit). |

| Sorry - I didnt mean to suggest that your hoped-for loss is in any way less significant than someone starting at a higher weight who has more poundage to shed. Note to self - engage brain before typing

| Moving on to OWL phases has always helped me break the lulls and plateaus that come part and parcel with any weight-loss regime. Congrats on your decision to move on. Exrta serving of broccoli salad, anyone? BigLove, S. |
