| I'm still trying to realize how to control emotional eating myself. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer a few months ago and since then I have put on 20 pounds. I think it is just taking control of ourselves...if we can identify that we are emotional eaters, then we just have to stop ourselves before we let our emotions get the best of us. Try to do something else to keep you busy and your mind off of whatever it is bothering you. I am not going to say go work out...that does work, but it's not always that easy to do when your feeling horrible. I recently did that and found myself crying on the treadmill in front of all my fellow gym members....not nice. Try writing in a journal or do something else to distract yourself...and get away from food!!! Best thing ever is to come to this forum and look at all the before/after pics though...that always inspires me and makes me think twice about cheating! Sorry to hear about the break up...hang in there! *hugs* |

| I am so sorry to hear about both of your problems ![]() I dont have any insight except to say that when things happen that I can't control then I try to think of the things I CAN control, like what I put in my mouth and my exercise plan and this helps me see that there are some things I can make happen.

| I'm just weighing in to second the journaling idea. I bring pretty much everything that leads me to question the world to my journal, and I feel much better after letting it sit on the page, rather than letting it sit on my mind AND my gut. I started after the death of my father more than 3 years ago, and it has helped me enormously. If writing isn't your thing, you could always start a sketch book, some audio recordings, or scrapbook to fufill the same purpose. It's cheap, it's easy, and it keeps you going. It also gives you something to look back on - we all have the days when we wonder how we ever got through the difficult times. This way, you have insight. Best of luck to you - hope things get better soon. BigLove, S. |

| I would try exercising. Whenever you get the urge to munch, do something physical. Hubby and I are going through some tough financial woes now and if not for the exercising I would be eating all dang day!!!
