Default What do you eat w/ STEAK?

Hi, I am trying to plan some meals and can't find anything that can replace the good ol' BAKED POTATO we usually have with steak!

Does anyone have some suggestions for a filling side dish? I say filling because my kids will only pick at their vegetables and without the potato, I just don't know how they will get filled up on just the meat and salad.

Thanks!

I still make potatoes and such for the family. They are all skinnies. Does your family need to lose weight?

I make mushrooms with steak, or you could try them on fauxtatoes, which is mashed cooked cauliflower pretending to be potatoes. Steamed broccoli is not carby but is filling, turnips can be cut in french fry shapes and oven baked like oven fries, just coat in oil with a little bit of italian seasoning, lay in a pan, bake at 350. Yummy.

We usually have sauteed asparagus and mushrooms with steak. Also, if you want to make it up, cauliflower casserole is sooooo good and soooo easy to make. It's great with steak.

I serve my kids all sorts of things I don't eat myself. None of them has a weight issue, so, while I try to watch what I give them, I'm not as vigilant as I am with myself.

I feed them pasta or rice. They don't like potatoes. I do give them bread and butter and applesauce as options at the table with many meals.

The only thing I won't make for them homemade is french fries. I can resist any restaurant's fries, but homemade would tempt me and I'm not going there.

Have you tried cauliflour fried rice thats good. Dice some cauliflower so its the same size as rice grains. Fry in a little oil make sure its hot. Add a little soy garlic. Only cook for a couple of mins or it will be soggy.
