| Been there, done that, own the tshirt, so on and so forth. I feel for you, and I feel for your struggle. I can say all kinds of things to try to make you feel good, but that isnt going to make a difference. In my opinion, and only speaking for myself, the best way I think I can explain it is to associate it with a drug addict. You cant get help unless you are ready, and nothing will work until you hit bottom. Only you know why it hasnt stuck yet, and if it ever will. Figuring out the why and how we have the addiction we do is hard, and takes a ton of self inventory and self truth. Noone can tell you anything to make you do this, stick to this, and change your life. Only you can get to the point where you can say to yourself, "Okay self, I am dying, and I dont want to. Lets do something about it". Good luck in finding your way. This way of life can work, will work, and in return for working the program, you will get the benefit of experiencing a life you either forgot could live or you always watched others have. Sending you sunshine and positivity......Sam |

| Thanks for that sam. I have a lot of reasons to lose and to stick with it such as my baby boy, my health, wanting to wear nice clothes( I am so fed up of wear what fits not what I really like), wanting to be on the back of my husband motorbike in size 12 (uk) leathers or smaller. I totally understand what you mean about only I can make the change. My family has said the same thing they can only carry my so far but ultimately I have to make the change myself. I am going to make a list of my reasons and stick them around the house. Thanks Jodi |

| Remember that the only way it can work is to do it for YOU, noone else. All the other reasons have to come second to that, in my opinion. And while making those notes, dont forget the sticky note in the bathroom on the mirror that says "I am worth it", because when we are on this roller coaster, we forget that sometimes. Glad I could say something to help. Good luck in your journey, it will be whatever you make it!!! |

| I think we've all been there at one time or another. Writing your reasons is great, start a journal, and if you mess up, begin again with the next meal, not next day. It's hard to get into a way of life just like that.. remember one step at a time. Being prepared has always helped me. Start your week out with a menu for each day, prepare up to 3 days in advance if that helps, get those veggies cut, make some meals, and always have something on hand that is induction friendly or LC friendly (whichever rung you are on) and you won't feel like there isn't anything else to have. The first few days are always the hardest. Check in often, post when you need that inspiration, motivation or just a kind word to keep you on track. I know you can do it! Tracey

| In my case, I have lost and gained throughout my entire life--my heaviest weight was 238 and my lightest was 112. Recently, I got up to 170 and was feeling so uncomfortable with my stomach hitting my thighs, having knee pain, and chest pains when I did much exertion. One day, I just said that I was done eating with abandon and made up my mind to lose the weight. I don't know what it was that clicked in my head, but it was different this time than any other time. I think it is because I did it for me and not to look good for someone else. While I am not at my goal yet, I feel better than I have in years and know that I am going to make it this time. I think once you decide that losing the weight is something you really want, you will succeed. I am rooting for you! Karen |

| I know what you mean. Its like something takes over me and I just cant get control and I start eating all the junkiest foods I can find. It's quite pathetic really and sad that I'm this out of control. I'm fed up of food being in control of me. I want to take control now. |

| I can give you some advise from a newbie perspective. There are three things you MUST do that have worked for me. 1. is to pre-make your meals. If you have them made already and have them with you (I carry my 3 meals in a cooler with me at all times), it is much easier to stay on the plan. 2. Getting support from the fine people on this site. I know that the stories and insight from people here get me excited and keep me motivated. With this site I have increased the variety of my "diet" and learned that not all diet drinks are created equal. 3. Exercise often! If you are not working out..... DO IT! Exercising will help you break through the stalls. It will also keep you committed to the program. Do you think that you will WANT to cheat on your diet if you have been busting your tail at the gym? Do you think you will WANT to skip that workout if you have been committed to eating lifestyle? I have never been able to stick to any diet for more than a couple of weeks EVER. THis is week 10 for me on Atkins, and I have done better than I could have hoped for. THe only things that I am doing different NOW than the hundred other times I tried are the 3 things I listed. I hope this helps and PLEASE stay committed. **** Thank you to everyone on this site for being there for me. I may have only officially joined the site a few days ago, but I have been looking for months***** -bigROB

| With me, the main underlying factor was that I have a fear of failure. Every diet I tried I always failed... and I was sick of the vicious circle. But then I noticed how truly miserable I was becomming, and how much happier and healthier I would be if I just finally STUCK TO IT and lost the weight. I was never motivated on other diets... sure, the first week or two I was excited but then I got bored and hungry, and of course fell off the wagon. This is why I love Atkins so much, because I have seen SO MUCH SUCCESS and now I am starting to see success in myself. You have to want this for yourself. Good luck, please don't give up! |
