ketosis question?

hi all!!
how do you know when your in ketosis?
i don't have the strips and haven't the foggiest idea where in the uk to buy them!!
anyhow been on induction a couple of days now and should imagine i should be in ketosis. but i feel ok normal!!
when i have done atkins before and er... failed i got to this stage and felt wretched.
is there any other tell tale signs?

It is hard to say. Most people feel the transition - we often call that induction flu - some tiredness or weakness for a day or two. Other signs are lower appetite, ketosis breath. But for some of us it is not always that clear with signs. I never worried. If I lose weight I am fine. Remember to drink plenty of water.

This may be too much info (sorry!) but I find that my pee smells differently when I'm in Ketosis. I only notice it in the beginning, then I get used to it.

Also - as mentioned by Liv - ketosis breath.

I also find that I'm thirsty for water - I have a bit of mung-mouth and water is the best for it. This is a good thing, of course, because we're supposed to drink our water.

Re: getting Keto Sticks = go to your local drugist and look for it in the section for diabetics. I buy the kind made by Bayer. It's in a round, plastic container that's about 5" high. Good luck!

I got some from Boots last week. I just asked for Ketosis testing strips and they seemed to know what I was on about. Cost £5 for a pot of 50 sticks .

Also, you can order them online! If I'm ever unsure about something I ate (hidden stuff in meat seasoning, etc.), these things always let me know the next morning.

not sure about the wee smelling, but i have proper dragon breath!!! have to cover my mouth when i speak to folk!!! also quite thirsty i constantly have a glass of water by my side and i dicovered today i have lost 5lbs!!! (yay!!) so i think i must be doing something right!!!
haven't really had tiredness a few moments where i a little light headed but it soon passes. x

When do you start getting the signs of ketosis? and does everyone get it and what exactly is ketosis? I feel like a moron for asking.

I can't use them because the medication I take for my blood disorder keeps them from working so I figure if I'm losing weight, who cares about ketosis!
