Default Day 8, ZERO cheats, but today was tough.

I still don't know what to make of this WOE / WOL.... It is only day 8, and if you looked at my scale, it shows 2 pounds lost for a 300 pound guy, One day it goes up, next day it goes down, then next day up, then next day down....

So that gets a wee bit discouraging. BTW I only am planning on using a scale just a little bit, but since so many lose so much on induction, I thought I would try to use it as a motivator.....

Anyway, on to my point. Today was a little "dicey". I opened my fridge to pull out the cream of asparagus soup I made last night for lunch today. Sitting right next to it was a FRESH loaf of Panera Bread Company bread. ( My wife and kids are not following Atkins, so I can't just get rid of all carbs and temptations )

I looked at that bread so lovingly, it must have felt it needed a cigarette when I finally stopped looking! But I was able to close the door and go have my soup.

Anyway, today has been tough, but still no cheats in 8 days. I'm proud of myself, but I just wish the results would show up on the scale.

Good for you for passing up the bread! It does make it difficult when your family is eating differently than you.

You can do it. You did it!! Good job on passing up the bread. It is so tempting but think of long term results. I am on day two.. It is hard but I just keep thinking long term I will be happier..

I just got done making some garlic bread to accompany the cheese ravioli and meatballs I'm packing for my husbands brown bag dinner. I partially brown the garlic bread, as he really doesn't have the time and equipment to do it at work. The aroma was heavenly....and that's after over a year ......

As for your weight loss.....have you posted your menus to see if everything is kosher? There may be something there that's holding you back. Also, have you been regular, bowel movement-wise?

Well done on staring down the bread

Have you taken measurements too? sometimes we lose inches without losing pounds as our body changes from fat to muscle, so it is handy to have an extra way to assess progress. Last year one contender in the 6 week exercise challenge lost loads of inches and hardly any pounds

Way to go!!!
I found the first two week V E R Y tough. One of the hardest things I had ever done. I stayed on it because of an infection that wouldn't go away others. If it had just been weight loss I would have given up. But after a couple of weeks it became easy, and when the month was over and I could start eating more like I used to, I didn't really consider going back. I'd lost 15 pounds (and I was slightly overweight, but well within acceptable limits), my stomach felt good, all the time, I wasn't hungry, my blood work was better, my BP was excellent, my insuling levels improved, my dental checkups were remarkably improved. Haven't had sugar in over a year now and don't really miss it - but I'm sure if I started eating it again I'd get addicted to it all over again.

Hi Lollypop

It is good to hear from someone who has turned to this WOE not only for weightloss but for the other benefits!

Thanks. Weight loss really had nothing to do with why I started on the diet. I was shocked when the weight started falling off. It was totally off the radar screen. It was just an added benefit : ) - that's hard to ignore. But I suspect just like when I started the diet, if weight loss were the only reason, I'd be more likely to go back to my old ways. I have friends who have successfully lost on Atkins, and then gone back to their old ways.
I find all the other health benefits are so good and I'm afraid to lose them.
