| I don't think eating 1200 calories will put you in "starvation mode". I'm not quite as tall as you are, but I have days in which I eat 1000-1200 calories. Then there are also days when I go up to 1800. In any case, you should not try to make every day a 1400+ day. Before starving, you will be hungry... and then you'll know you should eat something. You can add "hidden" fat, i.e. fat that doesn't make you feel like you're eating more. An example is oil on the salad. Frying your meat in oil and cooking veggies in butter will also provide more fat to your diet, so the calories will increase.

I believe that the best way to overcome temptation is not with willpower, which is so often in short supply, but with our brain power, a potentially unlimited resource. Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
