Do you eat more when you are sick?

I am sick right now and eating like a pig... (all atkins safe though haha) I don't expect to see any weight loss but hopefully I wont gain... I just was carbie food and since I am not I guess I am just pigging out trying to satify that craving with atkins foods....

Hello, all! I'm new to this forum. I have been gradually decreasing my carb intake all week and all week I've felt a general nausea that usually starts in the morning. Tonight I'm feeling worse nausea than I have all week. I drank a little gingerale (with sugar) and it subsided somewhat. But does this happen to anyone who starts the diet, even though I've only gradually decreased carbs? My husband and I are doing this together. He didn't seem to have nausea when he started the diet before me. Anyone?

Ok, so I just checked my urine and I'm in moderate ketosis. Does everyone feel this nauseas when they're in ketosis? This is awful.

Not everyone has problems like nausea or 'flu' like symptoms when they start induction.

However at least you can console yourself that you are doing things rght and your body is fighting to persuade you to add more of those sugary/starchy carby foods you have decided not to feed it.

If you can manage to starve that sugar/starch monster during induction your body will soon realise you are not going to give in and stop being so demanding and your nausea/sick feelings will go away.

Try to resist even sugary drinks at this time as by drinking them you are only keeping your sugar monster fit and well and in control instead of you

Thanks for the good advice! I couldn't believe how sick I was last night. I didn't know if I had a stomach bug or what, so I called out of work. I hope this doesn't always happen. Thanks again!

Depends. I sometimes eat different when I'm sick.

Last year, I had a horrible cold. My throat was so sore that all I ate was ice cream and milkshakes.

When I have a stomach bug (yay kids), I usually eat rice because it's so easy on my stomach.

As soon as I'm feeling better, I'm back to low carb.

This year, I had a mild cold. I had not taste for anything and wasn't hungry. I averaged about 1000 Cal for about 3 days.

when i'm sick i eat lesser. but sometimes i will find food like cucumber or tomato to eat.

when i recover i eat alot. put everything in my stomach. which is bad
