Default Questions From A New Member

I've been reading up on the Atkins diet for the past couple of days but I still have several questions.

1.) I'm starting the induction phase Monday. I understand that I need to stay under 20g of carbs per day. I've looked over the acceptable foods list and have a few meals already planned. The main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) should be easy. I'm a huge snack fan though. I'm hungry after I get out of class and I need to eat. My question is what kind of snacks may I have on the induction phase ? I'm looking for snacks that involve 0 to very little preparation. Are items I can buy at the grocery store such as pork rinds and pepperoni acceptable on the induction phase ?

2.) What are the benefits/disadvantages of continuing the induction phase for longer than 2 weeks ? Is it unhealthy ? If I am able to keep my carb count under 20g for an extended period of time is that okay ?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Brad

Pork rinds and pepperoni are acceptable on induction....just make sure you get ones without added sugar. Cheese cubes (within the limit allowed) are another option. You can also precut veggies for the week and make a dip to go with them for snacking all week.

Some people stay on induction if they have a lot of weight to lose. I advise moving at least to rung 1 (more veggies) and then later decide if you want to move further up or not. Those veggies help with both nutrients and regularity

YES!! They are all fat and protein....pork skin. It's the flavored ones you need to watch out for.

Cracker Barrel from Kraft makes individually wrapped 1oz sizes of cheddar cheese.

I just popped one since I know it's going to be a couple of more hours until dinner and it's been 5 hours since lunch.

I made my own beef jerky with less than 1 gram of carbs per serving. I ate it every day on induction and I did extend my induction for four weeks. You will see a drastic slow down in weeks 3 to 5, and you really need to move on so you don't lose your will to stay on this WOE.
