Probably, the reason we can have flax during induction is because it's nearly pure fiber. Since it's not on the acceptable list I wouldn't eat it on induction, but would try it when I got to the seed and nut level. Saying that...when I made flax meal into a hot cereal it looked and tasted like slime and that was the last time I tried it. Also it has wheat bran.....Also it has wheat bran.

I have had the cinnamon flavor and the strawberry. They are actually really good. Great way to get lots of fiber. Kind of reminded me of Cream of Wheat and grits.

Double check it with a "hidden carb calculator", imo.

The US labeling laws for carbohydrates are very lax, when compared to the laws governing fat and protein labeling. So if a manufacture fudges on the nutritional label, it will be on the carbohydrate amount, since that isn't tightly regulated.

A hidden carb calculator does the total calories in a food equation for you and figures it out for the carb grams not declared on the packaging.

total cals in a food = (9 x fat grams) + (4 x protein grams) + (4 x carb grams)

Take the sum of that equation and compare it to the total cals on the packaging. If there is a difference, then you know the manufacturer isn't being honest with the labeling and that could mean a difference of 1 net carb or 7 net carbs.

If you google "hidden carb calculator, you'll find plent to choose from. It's a good tool and will help you avoid pitfalls when you do OWL and Pre-Maintenance. Just because something is labeled as "low carb" doesn't mean it necessarily is low carb and/or that the manufacturer isn't trying to take advantage of consumers. I remember there was a refrigerated salad dressing that offered a "low carb" version of its line. The low carb version was in a different shaped bottle which held less than the regular dressing, but was about a dollar more expensive. Comparing the ingredients and nutritional info of the low carb line and the regular line, the only difference was the price.

Eating flax (linseed) and/or wheat bran is only 'allowed' under the 'constipation rule'
Quote:
12. If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or sprinkle wheat bran on a salad or vegetables.
So start by eating a tablespoon only and if the constipation is not alleviated then gradually add more till you are not constipated.

1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons so would be far too much for an induction menu in my opinion

To use flax as a cereal in larger quantities you should be at the OWL level/rung 3 (nuts and seeds) and for larger quantities of wheat bran the last OWL rung (whole grains)
