| If you need a quick breakfast alternative, visit Linda's low carb site for some breakfast ideas Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home mini Quiches, when made in a muffin pan, are a great quick grab and go breakfast. boiled and devilled eggs can be made ahead. breakfast doesn't necessarily have to be breakfast foods either....leftovers make a quick breakfast as well. I find omlettes and scrambled eggs to be quick, i can make either in about 5 mins....You can cut up/dice your omlette fillings, shred your cheese and keep in a ziplog bag, and keep them in the fridge to just grab and add to the eggs. Bacon can also be cooked ahead of time, and heated up for a few seconds in the microwave.

| If you would rather have a drink instead of solid food for breakfast you could always make your own 'legal' shake. Here is one member's version http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...breakfast.html (eggnog shake for breakfast!!!)

| Tanya, if it works for you, go for it. We, at ADBB are purest, we follow Atkins to the letter and his acceptable food list, doesn't list his shake or bars. I have been posting on this board since nearly it's inception 7 years ago ish and I can't tell you how many folks come here saying they are stalled out and wonder why and when we asked what they were eating they said shakes or bars. They quit and start to lose (I'm talking hundreds of posts, maybe even thousands...) They are made with sugar alcohols that 1) Make some folks have the runs 2) Their bodies process all the carbs not just the net carbs 3) They are filled with chemicals and all kinds of gross stuff that who know what it is. We want all the carbs we eat to be nutritious as we need all the good stuff we can get. What if you had done induction without the shakes, it's possible you would have lost twice what you did, you'll just never know. But, like I said, it works for you and thats find. |

| I don't have a problem drinking the shakes either. The carbs work out to be (not counting sugar alcohols) right around 2. The bars are a different story, and I stay away from them...although my wife (who is much smaller than I) eats a bar every day and has lost more than me since we started (I started at 319 and have lost 20, she started at 180 and has lost 21).

| Yes, I pretty much stay away from the bars as well. I ma have one occasionally when on the run. But as a rule, I don't keep them around. Shakes on the other hand are something I drink daily. I have made the eggnog shake and love it. But it means I have to drag my magic bullet, eggs, cream, vanilla extracgt to work with me. I start work around 6:30 am and not quiet ready for breakfast yet. I'll try to cut out the shakes for a few days and see if it makes a difference. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. |

| Cos you won't stay on them. The point is to get healthy, get away from rubbish like milkshakes and bars and eat healthy, nutrient packed food. If you "do Atkins" with shakes and bars, chances are you won't do well. |

| eh i use the shakes when i work, i work 12 hour night shifts four times a week, so i literally work, sleep work sleep work sleep. I seriously dont have time most of the time or...well the incentive some weeks to cook ahead. I usually bring salad with me and a shake. They havent bothered me and if anything im losing faster. I do plan to keep using them, even after i lose the weight, because to me, they're easy, filling and healthier than a real chocolate shake. : p |
