Default What's your favourite cuisine when going out (low carb)?

    Hi Guys

My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I am trying to decide which restaurant to go to where I can have some lovely food but stick with the program. A cheat meal is not an option!

What is your favourite restaurant when low carbing - indian, italian, chinese etc.?

What is your typical food choice when you're there?

    Thanks

    Zara xx

I love a good ol' steak and salad. Add sauteed mushrooms and I am a happy camper.

I like to go to fish places where I can order things I do not normally cook - lobster and crab are my favourites.

I love going to any steakhouse and having a steak, salad, and maybe some mushrooms.

I actually avoid anything Asian, including south Asian as well as Mexican. I find any restaurant that has a varied menu will have a plain meat/veggie option. I also like going to roadhouse/bar type places that have wings! We actually go for a 'wing night' every Wednesday.

I like Italian restaurants---authentic Italian restaurants, not the McPastas places. I usually start with the antipasto, I skip the pasta, but have a soup---like stricatella which is sort of an Italian egg drop soup, then a bisteca alla fiorentina. For dessert, it's an espresso.

Most 'English' restaurants ought to be able to serve you with an assortment of 'legal' foods for induction.

Just contact them beforehand if you can and ask what they can offer that has no sugar or starches in.

Many chains have websites where you can check the nutrition info or email and ask for details.
Dessert is easy - ask for the cheese board with no biscuits and maybe even take some homemade flax crackers with you if you don't eat cheese on its own.

I had to google bisteca alla fiorentina! Sounds great:
Bistecca alla Fiorentina, Florentine-Style Steak, is featured prominently on the menus of almost all the restaurants in Florence, finding a good one isn't at all easy. But when you do it's heaven on earth, delightfully rich, flavorful rare meat so tender it can be cut with a spoon.

We have a really nice, authentic Italian restaurant near us called Zio Toto and I think I will book a table there. I love antipasto (and several of the other starters). I have never tried stricatella but I love soup so this could be a good choice if on the menu and I also love steak. When it comes to dessert - it's not a problem for me. I don't really have a sweet tooth and if I have eaten a big meal, I wouldn't be hungry anyway. These days I save coffee when I get home - we have a great coffee machine and I make a decaf s/f caramel cappucino.

Thanks for all the great ideas guys. I was going to go for an indian but always feel I am missing out as I love poppadums and onion bhajees etc.

Yummy ideas - making me hungry!

I love a good steak and salad, or I get a cobb salad (minus bleu cheese for my reasons ). I don't usually make these type of things for myself and sometimes when someone makes you a salad, it tastes better than you making it! LOL

I always ask what the veggie of the day is also and get that instead of potato.

Let us know what you get! Happy (pre) Birthday!
