Default Ketone measurement sticks

I have the ketostix here. Now I have just measured it and it was 0.4 dark pink.
the stick reads like this:
0.0 No colour - negative for ketones
0.05 light pink - Faible??
0.4 dark pink - Moyen??
0.8 purple - +++
1.6 dark purple ++++

Can someone tell me which colour I am aiming for please - the chemist where I bought them told me not to go above the light pink .05.

I know not to measure first thing in the morning, or after exercise (hence why I measured now).

Many thanks for your assistance (again)

Hi Jodes! Where are you from? What you are aiming for is a color change...the second the stick changes color, you are in ketosis. I sometimes get really dark stick when I haven't had enough water, otherwise I am satisfied when it turns color! Also, I can tell just from the taste in my mouth that I'm in...The sticks just confirm...

Hi, I am in Canberra, Australia.

Thanks for that. So I am not trying to get to a specific colour, I just want it to change - well I am happy to say that is happening.

The mouth taste - is that a metallic sort of taste. Not offensive, just a funny sort of taste. If so, then I have that too.

Woohoo, it is all working the

As long as it's pink, you are in business! Mine rarely get darker than the lightest shade of pink.

Yes, the mouth taste is something you'll have to get used to. I've found the more water I drink, the less I notice it. It's worst first thing in the morning.

DH knows not to even think about a morning kiss until I've brushed my teeth and swished with mouthwash!

Sunny One, I know what you mean - the mouth taste is not bad, just not really nice and I worked out that the more water I drink the better.

I have always drank lots of water - when we were kids we never got soft drink (soda) from our parents. It was water during the day and milk or juice at breakfast and dinner. These days I drink between 3 and 4 litres a day.
