Splenda brand coffee flavor packets

This morning my wife made me a nice, hot cup of coffee to go with splenda brand mocha packets and some cream in it. After drinking about 1/4 of the cup (maybe 3oz) my stomach started to rumble. I stopped drinking since I was in the car, and went to work. At work I continued to rumble and feared that the stomach bug that's hitting my students was hitting me.
After checking the ingredients I saw that splenda was the LAST ingredient on the list, and dextrose was the first...I know sugar alcohols don't sit well with me, so I'm in total agony now. Hopefully increasing my water will help.

I don't believe dextrose is a sugar alcohol, but it is NOT good for you! too carby. I find that if i have anything similar to hot chocolate mix in the morning, I feel sick.

You're right, it's not a sugar alcohol...but could it make me feel just as crummy?

it's a bulking agent, and it seems to me it's pretty high glycemic. I don't think it would give you the special kind of stomach upset that sugar alcohols do though.

hmn, i've been using htem, but i just use one and a tbsp of sugar free creamer. : ( I hope you feel better. thats no fun!

Well, no matter how bad those things made me feel, I'm in bed with a stomach bug...and out of work on Tuesday (I teach, so I don't want to spread it).
So, i don't know whether it was the packets or not this morning, and I definitely don't think what's going on NOW is from them...but they're forever linked in my mind to a painful morning so it's back to black coffee for me. I like it better that way anyhow.

If you like flavored coffees, cream and those flavor drops are awesome. Flavored water , flavor water , water flavor drops , Capella Flavor Drops , vanilla flavoring , bottled drinking water , flavor syrup , coffee flavors
They are pretty expensive for this tiny little bottle but they taste awesome.
