clothes fit better on a toned muscled body than it does on fat.

Perhaps you were pulling on the tape measure at first when you measured? If not, I would just venture to guess that maybe you are losing fat in places that you are not measuring. Either way, if you are starting to see some muscle definition and your clothes are fitting better, obviously good things are happening! Keep it up!

Thanks guys--- that does help. I'm just going to keep trucking along, hoping things will change pretty soon. I've got GOALS, and the scale doesn't seem to understand that

The problem is that scales are notorious for taking no notice of any 'lose xx pounds by xx/xx/xxxx' goals

Because of this I never set them.

My goals have always been ones that I can achieve by my own efforts like:

Eat only on plan for x days
Drink xx fluid ounces of water a day
Exercise for xx minutes x days a week

Achieving this kind of goal will help your weightloss and health improvement and support you on your Atkins journey - and is not tied to what those pesky scales say

I was about 13 days into induction with my 18 lb loss. All of a sudden I was 2 pounds heavier. I stepped on that scale over and over. Every time I went into my bathroom I stepped on that stupid scale!

I started to asses everything I had done recently. I went out and bought a multivitamin and then cut out my deli meat/pepper jack cheese roll.

I'm not sure if it was a stall, something weird my body was doing or what.
This morning I'm back to my 18lb loss. And I imagine I will start to lose again.
Normally this would have made me give up. It just made me more determined!

It's one of the reasons you should stay away. I could have given up because of that and instead I waited it out for 2 days, here I am on day 16 of atkins, cheat free and my induction loss is back!

Stay away from your scale! LOL

Eventually, your muscle growth will slow down enough that your fat loss will outweigh (literally) your muscle growth. If you are giving into temptation because you're not seeing anything on the scale, stop weighing yourself! Use your measurements instead to show that it is indeed still working.

You may lose more slowly when you are building muscle to replace the fat, especially at first, but your weight loss will be more efficient in the end. Your body will use more calories to maintain your muscle mass. Its definitely useful stuff.
I do use my measurements more than the scales (I am a reforming scale addict - I have spent everyday of my adult life living by what the scale said each morning. It is slowing changine and I only get on about once a fortnight now).

I was concerned that my cravings were back because I have increased my carbs on OWL. Where as I never had cravings on induction at all - I want this non craving feeling back.
Do I reduce my carbs back to 20g a day to get this back or do I just perservere on OWL and hope the cravings go away. I might up it again next week and see what happens.

SP I am astounded at the cms lost (no I don't pull on the tape measure - you could not pull it in by 17cm if you wanted to). My clothes size has gone down too...

Hmm, is it a particular type of food that is causing your cravings? Or is it just the increased carb count? Have you tried different foods to fill your new carb allowance?

GOOD ADVICE! I am somewhat superstitious about setting a weight loss goal with a date....I never, ever made them, so now I think if I do that, I will fail. Goofy, I know, but no more *lose 10 pounds by xx* for me now

If you are having cravings then I would have a look at what foods - presumably veggies since you are on rung 1 - that you have added back. One of those foods might have caused a craving. I would start a new thread with this question so it gets more attention

Yes, chocolate - I have not wanted it since I started but the last week or so it is all I think about. Sadly last weekend I caved in and ate way too much, then had a coffee and hot cross bun to top it off. Then felt really sick for about 24 hours, so hopefully that will be enough to cure me of it. I am not going to dwell on what I did, I am just going to move on from it - I wish I knew why I had these cravings because I have been doing so week for weeks.

I have decided to step back to induction for a few days just to get me back in the swing of things.

I will increase the carbs again next week and see if I get cravings again. Hopefully I won't.

I have not added back anything that I was not eating on induction - just increased by 5g each day.
