| Swede is not allowed until OWL Rung 8. Sugar free jello is okay if sweetened with sucralose (Splenda). The ones I saw in the store all had aspartame.

| Oh dear I have been having swede I love it mashed when I looked at the carbs they weren't too bad. I think they call it something else in the US to what we call in the UK. The Jelly yes it does have aspartame in it but thought it would be ok ocasionally. |

| Dr. Atkins wrote we should avoid aspartame whenever possible. It stalls many of folks and may cause cravings. Others are okay with it though. I'm not a big fan of artificial sweeteners in general, so I rarely use any... but aspartame stalls me. Swede is called rutabaga in the US. [And between the two of us, I actually know it is not allowed until Rung 8 because I once gave a wrong advice about it to someone on the board (I thought it falls into the same category as turnips)... and another moderator (liv) corrected me.]

| By the way, you can make your own jelly. There are a few recipes on Linda's website. One is here: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

| The original packs, which are usually 5/$1, are unsweetened--the kind from your childhood when we actually had to pour the packet in a pitcher and add sugar and water to make Kool-Aid. Back when we wouldn't dream of giving our children chemicals that mimic the taste of sugar.
