| I don't use fitday, so I dont have the need to weigh my food. You don't HAVE to use fitday to do Atkins, you don't HAVE to weigh everything. After time, you get used to guessing correctly and knowing portion size and control. But if you've been having trouble starting off and getting serving sizes right, then until you know how much is enough, then it's a great way to do so. Nobody's forcing you to do it, it's just a suggestion on how you can help yourself to get the best results. I can honestly say neither times I've been on Atkins have I ever weighed any of my food, but I've still been able to follow it and be successful. Some people, however, may overestimate the amount of chicken they eat, for instance, and it's only when they make note of it do they realise that they are eating just meat...and not enough veg.

| Personally I think if you get obsessive and weigh every single tiny thing for every single meal every single day, you'd go nuts. I personally don't weigh a darn thing. I know how much I need to have with my eye, and if I think I haven't had enough, I eat a little more. All you need to do if you don't know how much a cup of a veggie is, weigh it once, then remember what that looks like, or remember how much of your bowl/plate that fills. I use Fitday to track my weight and my mood and things like that, but I simple can't enter in everything I eat every day on there, its a waste of time because I've done this so many times, I know what I need to eat and where I need to be. Nowadays I only use it if I have a question about how many carbs are in a certain thing. I don't even enter it, I just go look it up. Its a tool, not a requirement. And even if you feel better about it being super detailed and weigh everything, I think losing a good amount of weight in trade off with being annoyed about having to spend an extra 5 minutes weighing your food is well worth the hassle!

| I don't weigh everything either! I know from experience how big a slice of meat, or chicken or cup of green beans is. I do sometimes check the weights just to be sure that I'm not going over too much but that's just occasionally. So relax and enjoy your meals. They don't have to be a hassle! |

| Thanks to so many years weighing and measuring every morsel that entered my mouth, while fearing every gram of fat and every calorie, I can just about tell to the gram how much I am eating. I am writing a cookbook, so I tried it with my digital scales and I was right to within a smidgen or two, even eyeballing teaspoons and tablespoons of spices before weighing and measuring, so I do not and never have weighed and measured on Atkins. I did measure lettuce way back at the start, because I never had measured it before. I don't need to, since I lost 102 pounds in 10 months just by following the rules by the book. It works just like Dr. A said it would. Of course, that meant I had to know all the rules and not try to work my way around them.

Did I do something to upset you? Please show me one post that shows I'm trying to work my way around any of Dr. Atkin's rules...what's up? If I offended you I apologize, but from the very first post to me you have been making this assumption...please stop or just stop replying to me. I keep looking for something positive and supportive from you, you start out ok but always wind up with an insult, can you please explain why. Thanks bbb

| I think Sunny was just talking about herself BBB. I don't weigh either. Sometimes I think it may be a useful thing to do but I don't want to get to obsessive. I do have to use fitday because if I do not write down what I eat some way I take liberties. It is the darnest thing but that is how it goes with me. Some people weigh and that is what works for them. You have to do what works for you. If weighing your food is too much then don't.

It seems that my trying to help you is always misunderstood, so I will not reply to any more of your posts. I am sorry that our styles just don't mesh.

| BBB - for myself, when I offer advice I usually am offering advice that worked for myself and side comments usually refer to my own shortcomings. Sunny 's words were the same. Sometimes those comments can be taken to mean we are suggesting those shortcomings in others--not necessarily the case, but it is important that all of us not kid ourselves about how good or bad we are being. You will find that there are many thing you can embrace about this WOE and there are things you just can't abide with. For some people it is giving up sweeteners. For me I can't give up my coffee completely. For others like Liv, it means making sure they put things into Fitday. By exposing our own foibles, sometimes others begin to see some of their own stumbling blocks on their paths. Our replies are always reflections on what we ourselves have encountered and are much more likely to be our own self criticism but serve as a possible red flag for others too. Hope this puts the comments into perspective. |
