Default Should I try it again?

I did atkins a few years back and lost 35 pounds, a month and a half ago I started dieting and exercising and have lost 15 pounds (not atkins). The question I have is, has anyone done this and then did atkins to boost thier wieght loss, or will this hurt? My goal is 40-50 pounds total by June. I will continue to do Cardio every other day. Any opinions???

I know a lot of people have switched over from other diet/exercise plans. Exercise is a huge part of this WOE. It may boost your weight loss or it may not. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is whether you will stick with it in the long run. If you can stick to it and it works for you, go for it. If you're just trying to do induction for a few weeks to try to boost your weight loss and then go back to regular eating without progressing through the steps, its probably not worth it in the long run.

As far as it hurting, I think you would probably be fine. I doubt it would be slower than calorie restriction as long as you keep up with the exercise.

Thanks,
Thats exactly what i have been doing, Calorie reduction. Whats killing me is avg 2 pounds a week loss, and 1800 calories, if you eat to many its bad, and too little also bad.

well - i know you will get a LOT of answers saying that this isn't a "quick fix".
And I'm almost afraid that your questions sounds like that. (just my humble opinion)...

As far as should you do Atkins? I know I'd def. tell anyone that atkins IS actually the healthiest way to live and YES absolutely DO it again!
There's NO processed foods - you get your vegees in - fat IS good for you - you're NEVER hungry - there's SOOOOO many reasons TO do atkins ... but you have to want to truly change over to low-carb for life. There's just seriously no other way around it. And - don't forget - once you're in MAINTENANCE you do introduce a LOT of foods back in (even whole grains)

Taking this from someone who is a weight watcher lifetime member - I will tell you that atkins is FINALLY the one and only "diet" i've tried that I know will actually be able to stick to for the rest of my life because the most important thing is - I'M NEVER HUNGRY! It's absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!

That, and also - exercising 3 - 4 times a week, I know that I'm actually doing something (burning fat) and not just working off something "bad" that I shouldn't have had...

So the answer to your question is "yes" you should def. switch over to Atkins from whatever low-fat/low-calorie diet you are currently doing.

You also said, "if you eat too many calories it's "bad" - if you eat too little calories, it's "bad"..." - you shouldn't feel guilty or "BAD" over eating. You just shouldn't - and believe me, I know that this is one of my biggest issues with low calorie/low fat dieting - I can not TELL you how many days in my life I would over eat calories or over eat "points" and feel GUILTY over it. it's awful
plus - while calories DO count - what counts more is the kind of carbs you have.

good luck!!

Only you can answer this question. I do not believe that Atkins is the right program for everyone, but it is certainly the right program for me. Yes, you will lose if you switch over. You are having success at a stable, healthy weight loss on the plan you are already on. If you like it I would say stick with it. If you feel Atkins is a better choice for your life long term (because this is a life choice not a temporary diet) then switch. One thing- you may have a quick induction but your eventual weight loss may be at the same rate as your current plan. Weigh your choices and see what makes sense for you.

Thanks to all. I woke up this morning and decided to do it again, so I started induction today. The first time I did atkins I lost 35 without excercise, i'm excited to see how it will work with excercise. I'll let you all know.
