| I'm sure he was referring to exercising your lower body, why not get a ligt set of hand weights and concentrate on exercises you can do for upper body while sitting down. You can work on toning your arms and upper chest area without even getting out of your chair. Congrats on your loss! You are doing so well. Google upper body exercies using weights you will find many you can still do. Good luck! bbb

| You can also exercise your 'core' in your chair, with twists and such. And I haven't viewed this myself, but you could do 'wheelchair exercises.' HowStuffWorks Videos "Special Health Needs: Wheelchair Exercise" http://www.content4reprint.com/healt...rses-guide.htm http://www.dance-to-health-help-your...air-users.html http://www.ehow.com/how_4802141_exer...heelchair.html I am sorry about your injury and send wishes for good recovery!

| You should still be able to do some upper body "boxing" - meaning NO leg work - but everything with your arms. Seriously - "shadow boxing" can be very efficiant. If you don't belong to a gym - go buy some hand weights (a few different sizes) and go on bodybuilding.com to download some upper body exercises...there's SO many - chest, biceps, triceps, back - workout your upper body. And DON'T worry about "bulking up" from weight training - it's practically impossible for a woman to "buik up" from weight training. I've been doing it off and on for years now and NO bulky muscles. If anything - it TONES your body. But, as I'm sure you know - resistance training will HELP you when you're NOT working out because the more muscle strength you have, the better your body is at actually burning fat when you're NOT working out! and also - don't worry about building too much muscle - because unless you are a body builder working out 3 - 4 hours a day on a daily basis it's also almost close to impossible to gain that much muscle...but it TOTALLY helps again with the toning aspect and you WILL burn calories!!! good luck and i hope you feel better!!!

| Kariann's idea is one of the things I do. I have a spinal cord injury that makes me not have balance and I don't have a lot of strength in my legs so I'm very limited on what I can do from the waist down...but one of the ways I get my heart rate up is using the tae bo video but just doing the upper body part. I use a heart rate monitor and can really see my heart getting up and you can totally feel it. There are also those wheelchair exercise videos available. I downloaded a circuit training one the other day...good for some sculpting but it didn't get my heart rate up at all. You can find them on Amazon.com for "on demand" download pretty inexpensive...look for "Chair Aerobics for Everyone"...they have different flavors. I'd like to try a different one from the circuit one I bought to see if there is one that get's heart rate up. Finally, you might find a show called "sit and be fit" on tv. It's designed for seniors, but you can modify it for yourself.

That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again. |

| Swimming is one way to get in some cardio as you recuperate. There is also a machine I've seen at gyms called "CARDIO" - also known as the Arm Ergometer. Hope this helps!

| The ergometers are hard to find...but if you belong to a Y you can sometimes find them there.

| You would be a perfect candidate for Callenectics or Yoga. Both are full of streching and mental well being. You can still work parts of your lower body without working directly on your calves.
