| What do you understand by dessert? Something that has sweetener in it? Are berries also dessert? I usually have something with sweetener once a month or even less often. This year I had two desserts at the beginning of January and one on March 3rd. I had berries three times in March -- two times in yogurt, one time in a souffle... but I didn't use sweetener with them.

| any dessert i might have is usually just cream cheese sweetened with splenda and flavored with capella drops, but since i'm now avoiding sweetener and cheese, i'm not eating any desserts at all. i find i dont want them anyway and it leads to cravings.

| I am thinking of sweetened things... maybe I should cut back. I don't mean that I have them daily, but I do have them several times a week. I sweeten only with Stevia... hmmm

| For "dessert" I either have softened cream cheese with vanilla extract or cinnamon - either way I have 1/2 pkt of Splenda. My other "dessert" is a flax cookie. that is 1Tbsp flaxmeal, 1tsp butter microwave 30 seconds, add cinnamon, ground ginger & ground cloves to taste, 1tsp water, stir, add 1 pkt of splenda and let set 30 seconds.....microwave on parchment paper 2 minutes. Let it set a couple minutes to allow the butter to go back into the cookie. Some people have pumpkin w/cream cheese & pumpkin pie spices. I'm not particularly fond of that. Hope this helps.

| I have liquid splenda every morning in my coffee. I don't eat dessert anymore. It leads to overdoses of either heavy cream or cream cheese for me. I do plan to have some cheesecake on Easter. Honestly, now that I don't eat dessert, I can resist pretty much everything. And I was a chocolate fiend before Atkins.

| I've moved this from the Desserts Recipes forum, because it's not a dessert recipe.

| I think it depends whether you can regulate your frequency of desserts and whether it becomes too much of a habit. For me I find splenda a bit addictive, and I wasn't sure of the health effects, so I have quit that totally. I used to have almond flour mixed with cream and cocoa powder but, again, I couldn't control myself with it! For me it is best not to have anything I can obsess over and pine for in the evening. If you can regulate it, and it doesn't stall, then I don't see the harm if you stick within the OWL quantities. Edited to say: I do eat berries and cream quite regularly - 3/4 times a week and I normally lose fine with this. But measure the cream! Don't guess (I'm guilty of this at times!) |

| Well, I don't know if I qualify as successful. I am only halfway to goal but have managed to keep more than 55 pounds off for over three years. I find that sweets beget a sweet tooth. I do better when I do not have sweetened things. Far less hunger or cravings. I will have berries a couple of times a week as an evening treat in the summer, but I don't want to develop the desire for sweet things again. I have noticed that even when I have gone off plan, I now choose less sweet desserts than before starting Atkins. I would much rather have a panne cotta with berries, cheesecake, or one bittersweet chocolate over a really sweet dessert. Nowadays I would just as soon have a cappucino as a dessert. |

| I will occasionally have a LC dessert, but I have a rule that I can only do it on weekends. About 9 times out of 10, it's usually pumpkin with a tablespoon of cream cheese, butter, 1/8 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice and 1/2 pkt. of splenda microwaved and mixed together.
