What is very little fat? Well, for some it's under 40% of the total calories, for others it under 10%. Same for VLCARB diets. There are no strict guidelines as to how many carbs have to be consumed to classify a diet as a VLCARB one.

VLC stands for very low calorie diet... patients on a VLC diet usually only consume about 800 calories a day.

That's right. Technically, VLC means Very Low Calorie. But on other low carb forums, what VLC refers to is Very Low Carbohydrate. I guess people are not happy with keeping the Shift key pressed long enough to type VLCARB or use Caps Lock.

I think the OP meant VLCARB...

If you do Atkins, you should not stay under 10 carbs anyway.

Hi Mija, The other low carb board we're on is the best one to discuss VLCarb. This one goes strictly by nonmodified Atkins.

I'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention another forum on here but you posted this question on another board that's more receptive to this kind of diet.
