| One thing you that are cooking the flaxseed need to know--you destroy most of the health benefits when you heat it. After cooking, about all that is left is the fiber.

| I'm like Meg's I used to eat it every day until i researched it more, and wasn't sure it was good for daily use...as well I was cooking it which as Sunny pointed out is not beneficial. I actually suspect it has in the past caused me issues with stalls. I now use Chia seed to get my EFA's and fibre. They have more Omega 3's than any food including flax, are very mild tasting and can be added to pretty much anything, do not need to be ground (they're tiny round seeds) to get their nutrition, and cooking them does not affect them at all. They're also interesting to use in cooking as they 'thicken' foods by creating a gell when soaked in liquid. I like them in yogurt as it thickens it almost to a mousse consistency when left for 10 mins. Chia for Health - Dr. Weil info on them. It's a good alternative for anyone that doesn't want to consume flax.

| i just realized I should also add, Chia is not on the list of acceptable foods for induction, it's only gained popularity recently...so you can wait for the nuts and seeds rung or proceed with caution if you do add it as a fibre suppliment. The nutritional info is in 2tbsns 46 cals 4g's fat 2g sodium 5g's carbs 4g's fibre 3g's protein

| Also, for the sake of clarification for those unfamiliar with flax, be sure you use flax meal not flax "seeds." Flax seeds have an outer shell that is very resistant to digestion and they'll pass right through you. So, flax meal or "ground flax" is the way to go...

| I did a lot of online research..i'm going back about a year ago and i didn't bookmark (i have a zillion bookmarks i'd never find them anyway!). It can take alot of research but i try to find non-sponsored studies when researching these kinds of things (notice when you type in 'flax benefits' you get flax councils, flax retailers etc). After reading that cooking decreases the health benefits, it's tendancy for rancidity, phyto estrogen qualities etc, I decided to start using chia daily for my omega 3's and fibre. As well as i said i suspect it stalls me. I still do use flax occaisionally/rarely. I'm not telling anyone else not to use it....everyone can make their own decision on it. This is just my personal choice is all.

| This is interesting. Just recently, I began to wonder if I was having problems with flax. I eat flax crackers often, but seem to have noticed that my weight drops when I drop them.... I still need to do more trials though, to be sure. Seems I'm not the only one who has issues with flax. And I did so love flax crackers with nice salty butter!!!
