Default have question about muscle gain need help

Hi
I've just lost 20 lbs on the Atkins in a little over a month. Went from 179-180 to 160-161.
Would like to get down to 150 as goal weight (I'm 5'6.)
Maybe even down to 140 if I don't start looking too skinny.
During the induction I didn't exercise much but enjoyed watching the lbs burn away. For a week now I have started an exercise program. Now I am seeing a couple lbs weight gain and I'm bummed, because I'm sticking to the atkins diet religiously.

So my question is: Am I gaining back some muscle I may have lost during induction? (because I've heard muscle weighs more than fat).
If so that is OK and I won't be hard on myself, unless I am doing something else wrong here. I feel really good and even started jogging short distances. I gain muscle pretty easily.
Thanks ya'll.

Well, you probably didn't gain a few lbs of muscle in a week... it doesn't work that fast. Instead, your muscles are retaining fluids to "repair", which is why the scale shows a few extra lbs -- it's just water weight.

Since you don't have much left to lose, maybe you should consider moving to OWL. Then you'll have enough time to progress through all the phases of Atkins before reaching your goal weight.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

our stats are about the same. I'm going into the army so i work on building muscle just as much as cardio. A rest day from working out is very important. Since the muscles are retaining water because of being worked out so hard, i normally see a 3 pound over night loss after a rest day.
