Default jicama

Hi everyone. I tasted jicama for the first time in my life today. Does anyone know if it is allowed? I hope so because it tasted perfect! Someone at the grocery asked the grocer if he had any and I overheard and went to see what that weird name vegetable was, he split it open and gave us a sample. Heavenly! Tasted like a cross between a kolorabi (sp?) and red radishes.

Jicama is allowed during Induction Phase. It is listed as a "salad" vegetable.

I forgot to add.....I found it very useful during my Induction to keep a copy of the Induction Acceptable Foods List and the Rules of Induction in my purse. That way, I'd have it as a quick reference while grocery shopping or eating at a restaurant. It eliminated guesswork and it saved me numerous times from buying something that wasn't legal during Induction.

When I moved to OWL, I kept a list of the Rung foods including their amounts for 5 net carbs. That too saved me alot of times.

Quote:
Vegetables
You can have two to three cups per day of:

alfalfa sprouts
daikon
mushrooms
arugula
endive
parsley
bok choy
escarole
peppers
celery
fennel
radicchio
chicory
jicama
radishes
chives
lettuce
romaine lettuce
cucumber
moche
sorrel
These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:

artichoke
celery root
pumpkin
artichoke hearts
rhubarb
asparagus
chard
sauerkraut
bamboo shoots
collard greens
scallions
dandelion
snow peas
bean sprouts
dandelion greens
spaghetti squash
beet greens
eggplant
spinach
broccoli
hearts of palm
string or wax beans
broccoli rabe
kale
summer squash
brussels
kohlrabi
tomato
bean sprouts
leeks
turnips
cabbage
okra
water chestnuts
cauliflower
onion
zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.

Hi there, just a quick idea. I have saved a master grocery list on my Word program with everything on it that I would need for Atkins, cleaning, personal care stuff, everything. When I go for groceries, I pull up the master list, delete the stuff I won't need this time, print the list and close the file without saving it. I've done this for years, and actually have different master lists for summer and winter foods. Works for me

p.s. I'm also looking for jicama!
