| Do you have a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR)? If so take a look at the list of allowed foods for induction which details all the veggies and other foods you can eat. This will take all the pressure off of deciding if any particular food is allowed or not in this phase of atkins (which lasts for 2 weeks) Then choose from the list the foods that you fancy and, voilá you have the beginnings of a plan You can eat any of the allowed foods (within the limits detailed there) at any meal or snack. There is no such thing as a 'breakfast food' on Atkins. If you don't have a copy of DANDR yet then there is a thread in the Atkins Diet FAQ forum with the list of the foods allowed on induction that you can print out to have handy for reference when buying/choosing foods.

| Atkins sure is different than real life... I'll be in the grocery store going up and down the aisles saying to myself, nope, can't have that, nope, not allowed to have that... It seems 95% of the store is off limits and that can be demoralizing at first. But !! After you stop feeling bad you are gonna start feeling Good! Then that pesky hunger is going to go away. Then you aren't going to Care that you don't have side dishes and carb laden foods... All ya gotta do is make it through the 14 days and then see how you feel... (and how much weight you have lost) is just a side benefit |

| Here are a couple of links that may help you. You are right - it is about finding a new relationship to food. It can take a bit of time but start experimenting with the legal stuff and you will find there is whole world of stuff out there. Here is a good webpage to look at Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home Also check out this thread with induction recipes. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...n-recipes.html (Never ending induction recipes) (Never ending induction recipes) (Never ending induction recipes)

| I always did the meat/starch/veggie thing at dinner too - I find that if I have a green salad & a cooked veggie, my plate looks a lot like it used to...lessens the shock a bit If you don't have the book, do yourself a favour and get it...it will make this a lot easier. Also, read the stickies at the top of the forums...they are really very helpful. Breakfast ideas...for people who don't care for eggs (me included) 1) quiche 2) deli meat (watch for sugar/carbs) with cheese 3) Sheila's egg-nog shake (recipe below) 4) How about egg salad on a revolution roll (recipe is in the book)? 5) Anything - some people have salad for breakfast! Snacks -cheese -cream cheese-stuffed celery -low-carb, nitrate free (low sodium if you can get it) pepperoni -chicken wings (watch the sauce for sugar) -devilled eggs -leftover pot roast, chicken, etc! Try to plan ahead a day or so - you don't want to be trying to figure out what you can east when you are hungry! Remember that cheese is limited to 4oz per day. Sheila's Easy Breakfast Shake Serves 1 6 total carbs for entire recipe Induction-friendly! 3-oz. cube cream cheese ˝ cup Eggbeaters (pasteurized & safe) Ľ cup heavy cream 1 T DaVinci's or Atkins syrup - any flavor! (I used carmel) 4 ice cubes Blend 30 seconds - add ice cubes last - and enjoy

| I miss the rice too,and potatos the most... however I have discovered cauliflower mimics the texture. Just grate some cook it and it makes rice, or cook and mash to make faux-tatos yum ; ) |

| My breakfast is almost always greek yogurt with raspberries. I don't think the yogurt is exactly induction legal, but it could be an option if you're a rule breaker, or for later on. |

| Hi There!! Don't despair. I am so shocked at the diet and combined with excercise how quickly my weight has been coming off. My suggestion would be....try sugar free Jello.,,,,with some whipped cream in a can. I WAS a sweets person and this in moderation, like one a day or every other day , gives you the impression of having something cold and rich. What do you do for excercise. Whats really helped me is walking with my iPod before bed. I was initially doing just a morning walk/jog...and when I started doing one before bed,,,,it made a huge difference in my mood. Also....really and I mean really keep your water up...Walmart has a great carb free bubbly water with no sodium and in so many different flavors....makes you feel like you're having something naughty on induction, but doesnt hurt you. Stay Strong...it's so worth it!!

As someone often says here, the best way to satisfy your sweet tooth is to yank it out, not feed it. You'd be shocked at how much a sweets craving will dissipate (or disappear completely) by removing artificial sweeteners from one's diet. I was a skeptic, that's for sure. But now, 63 cheat-free days later without a single packet of Splenda or artificially flavored anything, I can't bring myself to eat anything sweet. |
