Wink Re: Hey Buddies!!!

Hello Buddies

Mike - Thanks for the pat on the back for avoiding the Mocha.. it's not easy as I them soooo much, but apparently they love my butt and waist wayyyy to much! LOL How are you doing? Are you still keeping a log of what you're eating/drinking? Are you trading in the Diet Cokes for another drink instead? How's the cooking going over there? I hope your week has been a good one my friend.

Focus - I have my times where I wake up and definitely feel slimmer. I can see it and the way my clothes fit also confirm something positive is happening. I had one of those days yesterday actually. My abs sections have those sweet little dimples in them! That is always a cool thing to see. I was floating on cloud 9 yesterday and even my dh was excited for me which added to the happy feeling! Just a little tid bit.. if you have a camera, you should take pictures of yourself somewhat often.. I know it sounds dumb to alot of people, but you don't have to show them to anyone.. just take them for you.. so you can visually see the difference. I am thrilled to hear about you feeling more confident!! That's awesome!! In regards to your mood swings.. try eating more often.. you should be aiming for eating like 6 times a day. I know it's hard, but try to have some sort of snack pre-done so you can munch. Between that and getting in your water.. the mood swings should settle down. Keep up the great work!!

Cara - I'm sorry to hear you had a bad weekend, but hoping the rest of your week has gone well. This weekend will be a better one.. cause I said so! LOL It's awesome that you and your dh are keeping track of the food intake.. it is a pain in the butt, but it does help for sure. Awesome job!

Kristen - Welcome to ADBB and to our Buddie group.. it's great to have you here! I hope you've been having a great week.

My week has been going ok.. I have not cheated, but I have been lacking in the amount I eat in a day. I'm working on it. I'm drinking water, but still trying to get that up more too. I felt fantastic yesterday and am hopeful that the scale is going to be nice to me on Monday. This morning I met my new friend from here again, and we went walking at 8:00am and we did 3 laps around the lake!! It was awesome! Having someone to walk with makes all the difference in the world, and it's an even bigger bonus when they have the same goal as you.. to lose weight!!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Sassy

Good news! My mom is coming on board to do Atkins with us! She's tired of feeling out of breath when walking up stairs. She knows it's clearly from her bad eating habits. She also wants to go walking with us. So today, she'll sit with us to go over her menu for the week and what days she wants to exercise.

I hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Buddiessssss

Here is to everyone having a great week!!

Cara - I'm thrilled to hear that your Mom will be joining us! Before she knows it, those stairs bothering her will be a thing of the past. It's awesome that you're going over a menu plan with her and helping her to have such a successful start! I'll be thinking of you as I go for my walk this morning.

I am down 2lbs as of this morning, and have realized that I have two weeks to get rid of as much as possible before I see my Mom. The last time she saw me in person, I was the big 225+ so I want to be as lil as possible! Water.. water.. water.. right foods and more excercise are what I need to achieve this!! I hope I can do it.

Where is everyone hiding at?? Come out.. come out.. where ever you are.. lol

lol sassy we arent hiding, im here!!

had a very busy weekend with lots of family dos but i still stays atkins there was a pizza night but just for me we got some chicken salad. i felt o so special lol. yesterday had a family bbq and was really good and just eat steak and salad. was really nice and didnt feel deprived one bit only thing was it was someones birthday and there was cake on one of the nights was hard not to eat it because cake is my weakness but i resisted lol

weigh myself and since last week ive lost 3lbs so thats 9lbs in total very happy about this. i do get some comments from the family members saying my diet isnt healthy but i just tell them they dont know what they are talking about lol.

6 times a day? right now i eat about 2 times and then maybe a snack. my appetite is slowly disappearing which i am very happy about its just with going to work early i dont have time to get anything to eat, unless i brought like mcdonlds breakfast and just eat the atkins friendly bit. but thats expensive to eat that way everyday and i dont think i could do it anyway. hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Hey Focus

I'm happy to see that you have come out of hiding

It's a great thing that you're not wanting to eat the whole house, if in fact that's how you use to be? But the idea is NOT to stop eating or to eat very little. If you do this, believe me Atkins will not work as it's intended to. I know it sounds crazy and it's hard to make oneself eat often, but it's not how often you (we) eat that is the problem, it's what we chose to shovel into our mouths that is. Normally when we ate regularly, we inhaled very bad carbs all day and night and now we have to learn to eat often but to eat the very low to no carb kind of foods.

I totally understand the whole going to work and trying to make this plan work being difficult, but if we pre-plan and get the food or snacks done the night before, then we have defeated that struggle! There are several options of good foods that we can prepare and take to work. Part of my issue is that I don't use the staff room, so I wouldn't ever put my lunch/snack in the fridge there. So my dh is looking into getting me some sort of cooler for the car, as I spend ever break in my car and with hot weather lately the food is yucky by the time I get to it. Blahhk lol Nothing like going to eat a pepperoni stick, and it looks and tastes like someone nuked it in the microwave! It literally was curled up on one end.. it was gross hahaha.. So once I have a cooler of some sort with ice packs or whatever, then I can take salads, cheese, meat or whatever and not worry about it going bad.

Please don't take any of my words as lecturing, as I am just like you lol.. I don't eat enough myself, but I am fighting this battle one day at a time and will win in the end! I just want to see us all succeed and be as happy and healthy as we all possibly can be!

Congrats on losing 9lbs and for doing so well with the BBQ and the birthday party's!! Keep it up.. you're doing awesome my friend.

Sassy

Good morning sassy and other buddies lurking around.

Tuesday and back in work, blah!!!

i know what you mean about the food not being in the fridge. We have a fridge at work but its always full so i just have to leave my food in my bag. But so far its been ok except the other day my salad i brought it went off and smelt rotten wasnt nice.

Well yesterday i was hungry so i ate 3 meals. one of them was chicken with a clear broth and then i was hungry so had 2 fried eggs. so delicous lol. love eating these when i can be bothered to cook them. And then for dinner had lamb kebab with lots of veg

Thanks sassy about the weighloss, i know its good that its going in the right direction for once just its weight that i regained so it can be abit demotivating. Like i need to get back to 250 just to be where i was at the start of this year!! kind of annoyed at myself but i know i have to retrain my thinking so i dont keep thinking this is a diet and that its the way i have to eat! its hard but its something that has to be done.

still not introduced exercise into my diet but i know i slowly will. right not its all about the mindframe im working on

hope everyone else is having a good day

Good Morning Buddies

Focus - That salad that you had, you know, the rotten smelling one lol.. sounds ohh so yummy! Your dinner last night however, does sound like it was a tasty one! I totally can relate to the whole having to lose regained weight, and I know how much it sucks! But it can be done and will be, we'll all get there once and for all!! As for dieting.. tsk tsk my friend.. lol.. this is not a diet.. this is a new way of life! You'll work the excercise in when you're ready. Are you drinking at least 8-8oz's of water a day? I know I'm not, thinking I'm going to join the water challenge for June. At least then for me, I'll feel that there is more reason to be more seriously committed to drinking it. Keep up the good work Focus.

I hope all our Buddies are having a great start to the week. It would be wonderful to hear from you guys (gals). Also, any newbies reading this post.. please feel free to join in as we can all use new Buddies!!

Sassy

Hey all:
Sounds like everybody's doing pretty well. Congrats on the 9 pounds Focus. Caramella's down 3 - way to go! Looks like Skinny's off to a good start. And Sassy! Just took a look at your siggy - 49 pounds!

I'm the slacker in the group. Fell completely off the wagon over the long weekend. Just too much going on, felt like I couldn't diet AND do everything that needed to get done (why do holidays turn into so much work sometimes?).

I confess I've been questioning whether Atkins is the right path for me. I've been fooling around with it for years and don't have any permanent weight loss to show for it. But when I look at other plans, they don't seem like a good fit either. I know that when I follow Atkins properly I DO get good results - lower blood pressure, much lower cholesterol readings, and I just flat out feel better. I just can't seem to get that first week behind me to get over the hump to where it gets easier. So, it's back to square one tomorrow.

Morning everyone

banjonuts, i think you should stick at it. You have said that when you are on plan you do see results so that should be more motivation for you to do it properly.

thanks for the words of encouragement last night i was so hungry i cheated alil bit. My bf had made some salt and pepper ribs and they are normally dusted in some cornflour (i think) before fried. They tasted so good and once i had one i wanted another i ended up having about 4 i know this isnt the same as bread but i was being soo good and even that tiny bit of flour scared me. Maybe im just weird lol :P

anyway jumped on the scales this morning and i had somehow lost 8lbs!!! i dont believe that for a second, this is because i normally weigh on digital scales and ive given them away for hiding and have only got a rubbish mechanical scales right now. Its nice to see that number but i dont believe it. Especially since its been only 2 days

I dont know about everyone else but so far ive been feeling so much more healthy for doing this diet. Apart from this morning my breathing was very heavy for some reason and it scared me. Definitely not going to cheat!!

Cool Re: Hey Buddies!!!

Buddiessss

Mike - Don't you dare give up and quit my friend! You know this can work, you just need to find the want in you to make it work! You're not a slacker, you're having a tough time and that's ok. Try taking "DIET" out of your vocabulary, as Atkins isn't a diet, it's a way of life. Maybe you should contact Sarina and see if she has any helpful suggestions that could get you off and running in the right direction? If there is anything I or we can do to help you, please by all means.. just ask my friend. What do you find to be your biggest struggle?

Thank you for noticing my weight loss amount. ~smiles~ I feel so much healthier than I did, but I still have quite a ways to go yet. I think a chunk of it will still "fall" off, if I get on plan 100% and do more excercise, drink my water, and eat more in a day. All things I still need to improve on. So until I do, I guess I'll just have to be happy with the low losses per week.

Focus - Congrats on your weight loss! Curious how often you're weighing yourself? Did you take your measurements when you started? Have you taken your "before" pictures?

In regards to eating the ribs, you should try having them with a butter/hot sauce mix instead. I made them like that last week, and they were pretty good. I mean, they were not as great as being smothered in the thick BBQ sauces that we're so use to having on them, but it was still pretty tasty and legal. You can also do it with chicken wings (drumettes).. Preheat oven to 375 degrees..for 1lb of them, melt together 2Tbsp butter and 1/4C of hot sauce .. bake wings for 20 min. then brush the wings with the mixed sauce .. bake them for 10 more min. then turn them over and baste them all again.. then bake for 10 more minutes. They taste great, make a fabulous snack or part of a dinner/lunch and are very legal for induction.

Where is everyone else? How are you all doing? Cara, how are you and your Mom doing? Is you Mom going to join up online for support? Kristen, how are you doing? Elsie, I hope you're back to the buddie group soon. We miss you.

WANTED . . . all people who want & need support and encouragement!! Please feel free to join us here.

Sassy
