| I self sabotage too - every 3 -4 days I have been having a glass of white wine, which kicks me out of ketosis. I kind of rationalize it by saying it is only a few carbs and I am working out almost every day...but it still stops the weight loss. But, I am now committed to the plan - I am going to a wedding in 6 weeks and the bride is a model! I want to look good for it! I really think it is a case of mind over matter. Good luck with it!

| To both of you. First, you have to lose weight for yourself -- not for your friend, your pet or your cactus. Second, if you are bored with your current food choices, then this is the signal to move to OWL. About other people noticing your weight loss, moomoomu... While 15 lbs mean a lot and you see/feel them, your friends don't notice them so easy, especially if they see you often. But you are not losing weight for your friend to see. If you can fit in a size ___, then who cares if your friend notices you've lost weight or not? Take it as a compliment -- it means he/she didn't notice you were overweight in the first place. neihu, the best thing is to put the wine away (throw it, give it to someone else... whatever will keep it out of your sight). Are you in Induction? moomoomu, take a pen and a piece of paper and write down how you felt after cheating and how you feel when doing Atkins. Also make a list of goals, other than weight. You can run 1 mile now? Set 1.5 miles as your goal and go up from there. You wear a size XX now? Set size XX-2 as your goal and work towards it. When you achieve yoar goals, do something nice for you -- buy a new book/DVD, get a massage, take a bubbly bath, etc. You choose your reward, just don't choose food. Good for both of you to be back on track. Stay there!

| moomoo - don't sabbotage yourself. Stay off the scales, put them in the garage, the basement, a cabinet where ever you need to and stay off them. I agree with Georgiana about making small goals for yourself and when you get to them do something special for you only...not your friend, not your parents or your spouse - they aren't loosing the weight YOU are. I also agree that you can't loose for anyone or everyone else - that never works. If YOU don't want this bad enough you won't succeed.... Also maybe you need to advance to OWL and add more variety of veggies to your daily intake....you don't have that much more left to loose. When you feel the urge to eat go do something else, take a walk, dance around the room, drink a large glass of water but get away from food. If you HAVE to eat pick a good food, celery sticks, radishes, pepper strips NOT pancakes, chips and stuff that doesn't do any good for you - that's what got you here in the first place. neihu - why was it so important to drink a glass of wine every few nights when you knew it would throw you out of keotsis? I hope you can stay away from the self sabbotage because the plan works - you just have to MAKE it work by following it the way it was written, not by re-writing it to suit you. Good luck to you both

| Also, when you feel like cheating, do some exercise instead. Those endorphins will help reduce stress and control your cravings.

| Im on day 9 and the family went away for the next couple of days. Went to market and bought 1 pint 2% milk, and some chocolate bites. All the way to market I was saying "dont do this". Got the stuff home - looked at it- took 1 big swallow of milk, and two bites. THEN THREW THE REST AWAY and drank 20 ox of bottled water. It wasnt the best- but not the worst |
