Default Portion control?

Heya.....just something I was sitting here thinking about....and posting because I thought maybe other new people might be asking themselves the same thing.

I just ate breakfast...
An egg, a piece of ham, a celery stick and 1 tbl of cream cheese.

I am still hungry....so I am going to drink a bottle of water and see if that doesnt cure it. Because I am doing something every three hours as far as a small meal or snack. Right now though, I want another piece of ham, or a celery stick and cream cheese.

What does everyone do if they are still hungry after a meal.

Do you have another piece of meat....do you do some activity....anything?

I had this problem also and solved it by adding more fat {keeps me satisfied much longer} and drinking a bottle of water before I eat. I picked up the tip on here about adding coconut oil to my coffee and after getting used to it I don't want coffee without it. Might want to check the additives in the ham also. There might be some nasties in there making you hungry.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, when I had less veggies and more fat, I felt fuller.
So I am going to tweak a bit...

Don't get me wrong- I've eaten more veggies in the past 3 months than I have in the last 5 years. Now I feel very deprived without them. I always eat whats on the allowed list and even try to have some for breakfast now. It's hard to believe how much my taste have changed. From what you've posted it looks like you're doing pretty good to me [but what do I know?]. Keep your chin up this woe is a marathon, you'll get there [and might even pass some others in the process].

Hi! I felt the same way for a couple weeks, but now that I'm 5 weeks in after 800 calories I am forcing myself to eat and I end up feeling stuffed to meet my cal. requirements! I think the way your feeling should improve overtime. But yes, I would suggest eating more protein and make sure you are eating your full allowance of veggies.

Yeah thank you that helps, I apperciate it.

I never realized just how POORLY I ate before. I was doing a gluten free diet before, which I still do. Atkins however has made me entirely conscious of what I put in my mouth and how I eat and cook. It's been a wake up call and a life saver.

I would eat a bigger breakfast and I would include some fats. I don't know how big your ham was but to me one egg and a piece of ham would probably not be good enough. I like to make sure I get in a fair amount of proteins for breakfast. That really can sustain me for quite a bit.

Check your ham. Many hams contain sugar and the carbs range anywhere from 1 net carb to as much as 7 net carbs per 3 ounce serving.

Yeah it's again this all natural eat it in two days or it rots stuff. It's cured, but I will check if I can find the wrapper again. It did'nt have sugar in it that I remember.

I have to eat nearly all fresh uncured, natual foods because I also have Celiac disease, which is an auto immune disorder where you can't eat wheat...gluten...rye, barley...hydrogenated oils....all that.

In cured stuff they often use dextrose - which is sugar. (We watch for those things ending in -ose).

I think one of things we have to learn and it is not easy is to differentiate between hunger and cravings. Hunger should not be drowned out with water. Cravings should be analyzed and causes found so we can deal with the roots of things. I have been low carbing for a year and a half and I am still learning stuff about myself.
