Question Curious Question...

I was just curious how many pounds you would have to lose in order to drop a jean size?

I think it depends on the person and the make of the jeans. I've dropped 2 sizes around the waist, yet the trend in jeans is low rise...and my bulge hasn't been affected yet. GRRR.

As a guestimate, I'd say between 10 and 20lbs.

Don't know about girls jeans but I have lost almost 60 lbs.Went from barely being able to fasten a 40 to where a 36 is almost too loose.Really need 35's but hard to find and I'll be in 34 soon anyway.

i think that men's jeans are easier to understand since they are based on the measurements of the waist.. so basically for a woman with a 30inch waist thats usually a size 10.. so if you have lost 60lbs and went from a 40 inch to a 35 inch that means you wouldve lost 12lbs per inch lost (each pant size) if i am doing my math right.. Im trying to go by pant size verses ideal weight because for me, at 145 i would wear a size 4.. im currently in 18's and would like to make it to an 8. UGH lets just hope i can keep up the determination!

Keep in mind that size 40 jeans took some sucking in and pulling to fasten.Just didn't have any larger.I did wear size 42 dress pants that fit reasonably well.So assume I was a 42 jeans that went to a 35 with 60 lbs wt loss.

The thing is, you can't do math to figure this out... at 215 pounds on a 5' 2" frame, I had to lose 20 pounds before I went down a size. When you weigh less, a few pounds makes a world of difference. 20 pounds at the weight I am now would mean at least 2, maybe 3 sizes.

Your height, how you are built, how muscular you are versus how untoned you are (muscle is denser than fat), are all factors. The number on the scale doesn't even begin to tell the whole story. Two people the same height and same weight can wear entirely different sizes because one of them works out, and one of them doesn't. For example, at 150 pounds, the one who doesn't work out may wear a size 10... but the one who weighs 150 and does work out consistently, may wear a size 6 because she has more muscle, which is denser and takes up less space.

Mitzie nailed it. Plus with the differences in manufacturers I wear three different sizes right now! LOL
