| I became a low fat vegetarian to lose weight. And I used to be hungry all the time (and I ate low fat vegetarian snacks because I was hungry all the time and gained about 40 pounds.) After that I started incorporating more animal protein into my menues, but I remained low fat. And I remained hungry all the time. My typical pre-Atkins menu looked like this: Pre-breakfast: One or two whole wheat or grain slices of toast while I was making breakfast. Breakfast bowl Oatmeal with a sliced banana 10 AM snack Orange or another 100% fruit juice and a piece of fruit Lunch Vegetable sandwich (either grilled veggies or fresh veggies with whole grain bread and mustard or chutney) 2 PM snack Low fat granola or a piece of fruit 5 PM snack ( I had to eat this because by the time I got home from work, I would be starving!) 100% fruit juice or a piece of fruit Dinner A lean meat or fish, broiled or grilled Bread, pasta or rice (no oil/butter added) Some kind of veggie Some kind of low fat dessert, like fruit salad 9 PM Snack A few dry crackers or air popped popcorn. See, eating all the time. I don't think I went more than 2 hours without eating because I was so hungry all the time. I'd even wake up hungry which is why I needed to snack on a piece of toast while I was preparing my breakfast! I didn't lose weight but I was eating low fat, eating alot of grains and fruits, in other words, eating "healthy."

| I just recently bought the Atkins bars "Cinnamon Bun" on the back it says that they are good for all PHASES, because I'm on my second week of induction, and I was reading around the forum, and I saw someone say that the bars were bad? Is this so?! |

| Yes, the bars are not allowed on induction because they contain ingredients that are not on the allowed foods list. |

| We dont recommend them at all, and especially not for induction. They are Atkins junk food and not on the acceptable list. To many folks have had really bad problems with them, they stalled, they read the list of ingredients and asked "How can this be legal, they did the math and didnt get the same as Atkins fuzzy math. Put them away or give them to someone. Also, I think they taste like cardboard |

| Atkins Bars/Shakes have caused so many people to stall. Desertthorn is absolutely right. The carbs don't seem to add up, and they really don't taste that great. If you're craving something sweet, you can search through the forums for some very friendly (and yummy!) recipes: Desserts - Atkins Diet |

| Whole food sure works best JoelsCountryGirl And MrsChesterDogg - don't forget to eat something at least every 6 hours. But it is wonderful how ketosis works to keep us satisfied for very long time.

I don't know what your doctor told you but my endocrinologist told me the day I saw her the first time to eat SOMETHING every 4 - 6 hours to make sure my blood sugar was level during the entire day....don't go too long in between meals - even if you don't "feel" hungry you still need to eat something. If you get to the point of "brain fog" you've gone too long without eating....

| I think the coconut bars are delicious, but there is something in them that gives me gas and diarhea so bad that they just aren't worth it! I say, stay away from them, no matter what rung you're on! |

| Yep, I'm well aquainted with the effects of low blood sugar. When I was eating the other way I would have it from time to time. Now I don't have that problem. |
