| I just checked out a homemade recipe's ingredients, and they look fine, but will you be purchasing it pre-made? If so, you'll have to make sure ALL the ingredients are listed on the Acceptable Food List for Induction (it may have fillers or sugars, which aren't allowed). |

| Thank you so much! Ours is pre-made but he bought it from the butcher and there is no nutritional info on it!! I do remember seeing a show here on the TV about how it was made and was so happy to know it did not have liver in it. It was a mix of meats and spices so I was pretty sure it was Legal but with the kids running around right now wanting dinner, I did not have time to do much searching. Thanks again. For the Leberkase we have at the canteen, the nutritional info per 100 g is roughly: 340 calories 10 g protein 3 g carbohydrate 32 g fat

| Ooh, yikes, didn't realize that it has a sugary brine or alcohol. Sorry I knew I should've waited for our most esteemed German moderator. |

| The "real" Leberkase should not have sugar and can be prepared without alcohol. It's just the one you buy in stores where you have to be very careful and read the list of ingredients (which is always missing if you buy it from the butcher). I was visiting friends in Munich last winter and they had homemade Leberkase which was perfectly acceptable for Induction. Still very salty, but "legal". The stuff in stores is often mystery meat though...

| We checked the ingredients on the brand I normally buy at Real and it looked safe to me. No sugar or anything. I am not too worried because I am doing more of an extended induction now anyway and I am still losing and in high ketosis. I am about to move into the first OWL level...whoo hooo. I ate the Leberkäse last night with hot mustard and loved it. I was really hungry and did not have time to fix something else, like my usual salad. We are redoing the bedroom and that on top of the five children, has stolen my time and it has been hard to stay on top of the diet. I did make a wonderful Atkins friendly cheescake, without the crust, and I have been munching on that all morning. Again, I did not have much time yet to feed myself. I have to take care of 4 of the kids alone in the day and I always end up feeding them first. The cheesecake was a lifesaver. I think I will post the recipe later. Thanks again for the help. |
