How long does sodium last in your system?

I had 2 hotdogs late at night and sure enough I woke up 2 lbs. heavier. I could tell it was water retention because I couldn't get my ring off...

So I waited a day and kept my sodium low and woke up and had lost the two lbs. was back to where I started...

My question is... How long does sodium have an effect on our bodies? If I had had those hotdogs in the morning, would the sodium have been gone come the next morning?

At this point I'm afraid to eat bacon in the morning because I don't want to wake up the next day with a gain of water weight...

About half the sodium in our body is fat soluble. The other half is water soluble and can be flushed out within a few days. The sodium in our fat cells can only be ridden by removing the entire fat cells.

I know MSG has the effect you mentioned, so I try to avoid that at all costs. My bacon doesn't contain msg, so there are no issues there. HOWEVER, I know that bacon has caused stalls in ppl.

Just wait a couple days, I guess and drink tons of water...

Depends on how well your kidneys work. If your kidneys have low function, then it will take longer to remove than if your kidneys have normal function.

If I have a salty dinner, I wake up very bloated. With plenty of water, by the end of the day I'm usually close to "normal" again. Unfortunately I have learned that as I get older, salt has a greater impact on me.

Bacon, hotdogs and sausage all stall me unless they are fresh from a butcher with no artificial ingredients.
