Yes, I "love" pizza, but I love my mother more. (Part of my motivation)

Everyone says "You can only do this for yourself". And that is VERY true.
If you don't want to do this for you, than you will have a very difficult time succeeding.
But as much as I want this for ME, I want this even more for my mother. To show her IT CAN BE DONE. I have never even discussed her health, simply because I don't want to break her heart. She knows she needs to lose weight, so why should I remind her? Well, if I want her around to see my 2 year old sister grow up, she NEEDS to do something.

My mom has always been "overweight" since I can remember but it didn't seem like something to be too concerned about. She was healthy, happy and gorgeous. That was 15 years ago.
Now, at 41 years old, she is 5'4" and last I knew, 285 pounds (in November). I know she has since gained more weight.

She stuck to Atkins before my sister was born and lost 50 pounds in 2 months. Then, she gave up. She has since started the Atkins lifestyle probably 30 times, lasting no more than a week. She has absolutely no idea how heartbreaking it is for me to see her give up every time simply because "she was hungry and couldn't say no to the pizza".
My baby sister is only 2 years old and I fear that my mother will develop diabetes (her mother has it now), have heart problems, etc. She already has a problem with her back but doesn't relate it to her weight.

She has no energy anymore, has aged more than she should have, and given up on her health in general.

I love my mom and sister more than anything. I would do anything for them, but I cannot lose the weight for my mother. I wish she could see just how unhealthy she is and act on it; if not for herself, than for my sister because she needs her more than anything.

Hopefully once she sees the progress I'm making due to the Atkins lifestyle, it will PROVE to her that it can be done (even though she already knows this). She will no longer have an excuse. But my biggest fear is that she still won't do anything about her weight..that there will somehow, be another excuse to use.

I guess time will tell.

Your motivation touched my heart. I was readying it as if my daughter was telling me this. She is only 17 y/o and she has only known me as being heavy. She has seen me struggle with my weight and attempting to lose weight so many times, but I just give up for whatever reason. She is also a great motivator. She makes comments about my weight loss, but positive (look at you mom, getting skinny) and negatively joking (but you won't be soft and cuddly anymore).
I already have problems with my blood sugar, and hypertension that is brought on more by stress from work. AND my LDLs are a little too high. I want to be around for my daughter, son, grandchildren, my mom and grandmother, and any future grandchildren, nieces and nephews that i may have.

Talk to your mom. As mothers we do not want to see our kids hurting, but then as children we don't want to hurt our parents feelings either. Maybe with you also on the Atkins this will help her also to stay on it. Make it a buddy system.
