Default How do you move up the rungs?

Ok, so I've been wondering for a while and haven't ever come across this question asked on the boards...

How do you decide when it's time to move up through the rungs?

For me - I'm on rung 5 now and basically I let my weight decide when I'd move up rungs.
196 - started induction
(-5 pounds) 191 - started rung 1
(-5 pounds) 186 - started rung 2
(-5 pounds) 181 - started rung 3
(-5 pounds) 176 - started rung 4
(-3 pounds) 173 - started rung 5 (shoulda waited, but couldn't for my mich ultra's haha)
(-3 pounds) 170 - currently still at rung 5 - will move on to rung 6 at 168.

so really for the most part, every 5 pounds for me I started moving up the rungs to the next one...I figure at 168 = rung 6. 165 = rung 7. 162 = rung 8
and once i hit goal at 160 I'll try rung 9 and see how that works out for me...

But anyways - I'm really curious how you all decide to move up a rung.

I wanted yogurt so I went up to rung 2... I wanted walnuts so I went up to rung 3... I wanted blackberries so I went up to rung 4... I'm gonna skip rung 5 since I don't drink... in another month - as soon as I find a good recipe for refried beans I'll hop up to rung 6... very unscientific here...

I have the hardest time moving up the rungs! They will be the death of me-- induction is the easiest part of the diet for me ...someday I'll master the rungs and get to maintenance, someday....*clicks heels*...there's no place like maintenance, there's no place like maintenance...

Default Re: How do you move up the rungs?

I did two weeks induction and moved right into OWL. I figured out how many new veggies i wanted to add, added two a week ( controvery there LOL) and stayed on that until I added those.......a month? Moved to Rung two, stayed on it again a couple weeks adding in what i wanted to add. Totally skipped Rung 3. Nuts did me in before, I do not want to bake with nut flours yet, etc. Rung four, I have only added sf smuckers jam for my Fage. I am so totally satisfied with the food I have to eat, I still have not decided or been tempted to add in other berries which I think I will have a hard time limiting, from past trials. I will go to rung 5 at some point, I do want to add wine in, however I am not a big drinker, just want the option socially. I think its just personal choice how you move up it. I would not have moved if I didn't lose weight on the Rung I added. I read all the stickies and they can be confusing, I think you just have to jump in and work it out as you go.

I do it slooooooow.
For me it is about all the food I want to try and since you can only do one a week well there are endless of weeks that can be spent on certain rungs. And I still have to go back and try some things out I did not try when on an earlier rung. So I have spent over a year on OWL but I am not in a hurry
