| Personally, I don't when I'm on Atkins. Not so much because I feel it'll hinder my weight loss, but more because when I'm on Atkins, I'm clensing my body, and taking the opportunity to eat better foods overall. It amazes me endlessly just how much junk I ate before I found Atkins! Although, saying that I dont, I'm probably lying. I can remember times when I've been travelling, or staying with family and had little choice, and found hotdogs or something similar and processed with sodium nitrate the only alternative to carb-land, but I wouldn't eat it out of choice.

| I eat hotdogs occasionally on this WOE. I stick to Nathans, Sabretts and Hebrew National when I do dogs. I also do brats occaisonally. I make a really good sauce using hot mustard, sugar free honey, and tabasco sauce in equal parts. I wouldn't recommend eating this every day, but every so often it doesn't hurt me. Everyone is different though. Pepperoni is also processed, and I eat that as a "take along" food. I also don't eat that every day. Good luck and feel free to live a little. If you stall because of this, it's only temporary and don't do it again.

| Thanks for your reponse, tfek70. I didn't think about the fact that pepperonni has it in there, too. I was planning to implement pepperonni to make a faux pizza every once in a while. And by the way, your sauce recipe sounds *awesome* <drool>

| Sugar Free honey is at my Walmart. It's made with sugar alcohol, so you do need to be a bit cautious until you know how you react to them. So is sugar free syrup.

| I just have to say this: the title of this thread creeps me out a bit. Also hot dogs very often are filled with wheat, soy and dairy products. So watch out for those.

| ^^^ Good point, that's why I only eat the finest carcinogens. Boars Head also makes a good dog. Expect to pay a little more for the good dogs. The cheap ones use every bit of the pig but the squeal.

| LOL! Finest carcinogens. cute. By the way, I did eat hot dogs (x2! oops!) and they weren't as yummy as I thought they would be. And we grilled them on the grill and I could see the skin casing bubbling and crisping and it grossed me out. Needless to say, next time I don't think hot dogs will tempt me as much as they used to. I do have a question though and I think this will help me not only with hot dogs but with my general understanding of foods and carb counting...I did notice it said corn syrup somewhere in the ingredients. Did I screw up? The nutritional guide said the dogs were less than one carb per link. (Total Carbs: >1g per serving, serving size=1 link). So did I just throw myself out of ketosis by consuming corn syrup? Sorry to sound so dumb/blonde about it, but I am new to this so I am a little dumb & blonde to this. Haha

| I, too, have dogs, bacon and other nitrate containing meats, on occasion. Your question actually was one I was just asking myself a couple days ago, as I was enjoying a Nathan dog! A question about the sugar free honey or syrups. I have some, Honey Tree's from WalMart, but the carb count seems high to me. The label says 17g carb, do the sugar alcohols completely offset the carbs so that it's carb free? I'd like to use it when I make a MIM, but I've been afraid that it could/would stall me. |
