| I'm here to support you in your quest for health and slimness, but I cannot find the motivation for you. I'm sure this is not the first time you've had this mental struggle with going on or staying on a food plan, but this time you have to know in your deepest recess, that Atkins can work for you. There's just no other way if you're going to live a long, healthy life. It would be easy for me to say "just do it" but I know that's too flip. So what I will say is, read the book, follow the plan as Dr. Atkins instructed, take it one day at a time and come here often, we want you to succeed! |

| Why are there sodas, hot pockets, sandwich bread, and yooohoo cans at your house? Of course you are going to fail if you are surrounded by things you aren't supposed to have... Also, starting a diet because you 'know you are supposed to' is not really good motivation... that's like trying to lose weight to make somebody else happy... it just doesn't last long... You have to want it not because you should but because you CAN. Right now, life is very easy for you. You can eat anything you want whenever you want. That's what kind of eater you are... Yah, there is this threat looming over your shoulder, but it just isn't bad enough to make you stop living the easy life... There has to be something else other than the threat of dire circumstances to make you want to take on the long term committment of losing that much weight. You have to find what that is within yourself. |

| 1) this is exactly what you need to do. question WHY you are eating these things. Is it because they are there and you hate to waste them? then give them away or throw them away and be done with it. 2) is it because you don't feel like other things fill that gap? then you know that your head is the problem and you need to consciously search for other outlets for boredom, frustration, etc. (if at home, I find a good messy hands hobby works wonders because you can't eat) 3) If you are at home all day, is it with small kids? or are you home alone? If you are home alone, then get a place to volunteer where you can get out of the house and start doing something to feel good about yourself. It sounds to me like you are feeling a bit like you aren't worth the effort of becoming th "you" you know you need to be. Even if you are home with kids, get out and take a walk around the block or a swim--do it the second you find yourself foraging for bad stuff. And do it every time 4) Make up washed salad greens, and legal foods such as deviled eggs in advance so there is something ready in a second. Finally, no one can do this for you. As msangelpie said, you won't be committed unless you want this for you and believe you deserve to be healthy and thinner and that it is worth not having that Yoohoo today (this is a one day at a time thing). |

Now please don't think I'm an expert, but I have tried this diet 100 of times at least just to fail and fail and then I started to have the SAME EXACT QUESTIONS AS YOU.. and then I started to really stop and think about what I'm doing. I have became so detached from my own emotions and feelings that I would grab anything for comfort. And yes, the bread and sugar is comfort for me as well... and even this morning as I walk into the kitchen I thought about some frosted flakes (in a split second how good they tasted, how comfort the cold milk is, how sweat and crispy it is.. )and I went and put me eggs on to boil. Yes, Just as I allowed that thought to come into my mind, I said, "this is really not what I want" and I moved on... it is this kind of mental approach and changes that will have to be made. I have a "Day of Confession" thread that I started when I started again this time... and so far so good. Many other people are just like you and me. They struggle the same Food for comfort and feel good, tension releasing, stress calmer, ect, ect, ect.. .as us... and we are all trying to fight it one day, one small step at a time. please feel free to join us over there.. and confess you idea and I'm sure many will comfort you even better then any food can!!! |

| Give it up.Only will get frustrated giving half effort.Eat what you want, when you want it.When you finally get fed up,pun intended, then set a goal date in the future and prepare to start then. |

| Thank you all for your replies, I keep those products at home because my husband likes them, he does not have the weight problem, would not even understand it since he was born with something that makes his metabolism goes much faster than the rest of us so he has always been skinny no matter what he eats, I am a stay at home mom and I do want to succeed at this, today so far I m doing good! I manage lunch just fine been drinking lots of water and I am ready for my atkins friendly dinner so I am going to take it one day at a time, I ate a lot for lunch and breakfast but there is that empty feeling of where is the bread?? but I guess it will be lesser and lesser as time goes by. Thanks! |

![]() Good for you!! Yes, it's tough the first couple days, and some people suffer what they call "induction flu," but after that couple days, all cravings go away. Then you'll find yourself not hungry at all - that's when you absolutely have to eat. And good for you on the water, too!! Keep posting, it's important! |

I am a SAHM as well, something I pay very very close attention to is not & eating off of them, sounds crazy but I feed them somethings still and I am mindless before you know it, something is in my mouth. Also, when I do fix them something like PB&J Sandwhich (I love them) I take me a spoon of cream cheese or some chicken (kept some precooked in the fridge and yes, I eat it cold) also I made sure to note if I felt hungry when it was time for them to eat (usually I am, until today) and I would fix my plate at the same tim eto pick at it. Also find something (for me it was the cream cheese button drops) that is a little sweat/cold, ect that will kill the need/craving when they are eating say fruit or yogurt, something that I like (both cold and a little texture to them) to kill that urge. Hope these things help you and best of luck. |

| There are entire countries where people don't eat a sandwich for lunch and most of them have never even imagined a slice of white bread. You have a preconcieved notion that is a habit. Nothing more. And like the rest of bad habits, you have to consciously work at changing them. It's not easy, it's not fun, but if you really do want to lose, make it happen. And have your hubby hide his Yoohoos in his car and stuff the hot pockets somewhere out of sight. But here's the thing. If they are for HIM why are YOU eating them? You may think I am being mean, but I have been there. I have talked myself into buying many things "for the kids" that I ate myself. I bet if you sincerely asked hubby to do without a few things for the first month or so--til you got into the habit of eating right--he probably would have less of an issue with its absence than you would. You are only kidding yourself and you deserve to treat yourself better than that. |
