Has anyone tried Atkins and Alli (Orlistat) together?

Oh I get what you mean your looking at the sliding mountain pic look down at the end her pic is there at the bottom of each statement she leaves .she has a big smile very pretty girl I have seen her weight loss before and afters she has done well.

I agree we all have choices and decisions about our weight loss. But we---the moderators and members---on ADBB have a responsibilty and ethical duty to endorse safe methods and scientifically grounded information. Using an agent that decreases fat absorption for a diet that depends on fat to work isn't rational, logical or scientifically sound. In fact, doing that is incompatible---as Norman's thread indicates low carb diets have to be high fat in order for them to work.

Slidesdownmountains was eating nearly 1500 calories from fat alone. And that was on top of her other foods. It was her decision to take Alli rather than to decrease her fat consumption. And that's great for her. But there was a non-pharmacologic alternative: she simply had to cut down on her fat consumption. Other posters looking for information need to know that so they can make an informed decision with their weight loss.

By the way, ADBB is an Atkins Diet Bulletin Board. We endorse the Atkins Diet and we base our advice on it. Dr. Atkins didn't encourage or endorse the use of pharmacologic agents whose mode of action are physiologically antagonistic to ketogenic lypolysis. So please keep that in mind.

I do understand where you are coming from and I do agree that taking Alli whilst consuming high fat foods is a receipe for disaster especially in the bathroom! I myself am concentrating on the high protein side of the atkins in the form of meat egg and enough dairy to keep me healthy, my fat intake is very low and as a result of this i have not experienced any of the bad side affects associated with Alli. whether i would be achieving the same results just using the atkins?... I don't know, all I can say is that I feel healthier than i have done in years and the weight is coming off.. So for now, I'm happy with what I'm doing.

Maybe Dr Atkins didn't recommend Alli because at that time it wasn't available Just a thought.......... lol
