Default Cream Cheese and Almonds Jumpstart

Hi...I've been reading, but have not posted before. I recently moved and do not have my book available. I seem to recall a sort of "jumpstart" sited by Dr. Atkins in which you eat cream cheese and almonds for a few days to get past a plateau. (Then again I could be dreaming...). Does anyone have this information available? I am interested for myself, but it seems it might help a few others that have been struggling as well. Thanks!

You are dreaming...sorry. Almonds are not allowed until Rung 3 of Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) and cream cheese is allowed as part of the 3-4 ounces of cheese per day.

You're probably referring to the "Fat Fast". It's not for jump starting or getting past a plateau. It's for people who are so metabolically resistant that they do not lose weight on Atkins, inspite of following it precisely.

There is a thread about it in the FAQ section of this board.

Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

The only thing that "jumpstarts" ketosis is limiting carbohydrate intake and while increasing fat intake. It's the ratio of fat to carb intake that gets you into ketosis.
