We are suppose to eat 3 meals a day not 2 -- you won't loose any faster by skipping meals, as a matter of fact if you don't eat enough you can throw your body into starvation mode and the weight will not come off. The book says to eat something every 4 - 6 hours to keep your body satisfied.

As far as breastfeeding vs not breastfeeding that is a personal decision and no one in your personal life or on this board should say a thing about it. You don't need a buttinsky....how ridiculous. This isn't a breastfeeding forum - it's weight loss!!! Sheesh people!!!!!

Read the induction information and follow it -- eat 3 meals a day -- drink at least 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added) -- then your coffee -- decaf is better than regular for your system.

You will start to feel better in a day or two -- until then just hold on -- and eat properly.

Thanks people!! I am trying to eat 3 times a day but not much of the food is appealling to me. I don't want to eat too many eggs because I'm worried what it will do to my digestive system. I was pretty much a vegetarian before I began atkins...only eating meat once or twice a week!!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can eat for a mid-day snack? Nothing too meaty or big, but big enough to constitute a meal...

Also, I bought some atkins day break bars. How many can I have per day during induction? I havn't opened them yet but I am very excited

Oops.... Hold that excitement until you reach the appropriate OWL rungs, because those bars have ingredients which are not allowed during Induction (always read the label).

For a snack or meal, I'm not sure what "too meaty" means for you, but you could have 1/2 of a small avocado, some chicken/tuna salad, a salad with some dressing and bits of meat and/or boiled egg in it, soup, cheese....

I bought the choc chip crisp day break bars which say they can be used during induction... but not sure how many. I'll limit to one per day.

Atkins Day Break Chocolate Chip Crisp Bar

Soup sounds good. What kinds do you guys have? Shop bought or home made?

The guys from Atkins Nutritionals say that because they wants to sell their products, so they've changed the rules Dr. Atkins created.

Look again at rule #5 in the Rules of Induction, where it says "Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing!" The bars contain contain oats, almonds, coconut, soybeans... none of which are on the acceptable foods list. Furthermore, if you open your book on page 238 (Chapter 19), it says:
Quote:
There are also controlled carbohydrate chocolate bars (appropriate only after Induction) that serve when only chocolate will satisfy your cravings.
So,
1. They are not appropriate for Induction.
2. They are supposed to be used in super emergencies, when not having that bar would cause you to eat a whole pizza.

And the reason why these products should not be consumed, besides containing non-Induction ingredients, is because they stall or slow down weight loss for many people, as we have often seen at ADBB and as Dr. Atkins often saw when treating his patients (there used to be a page on atkins.com saying that bars/shakes may stall weight loss). If you put work into something, such as your weight loss, you want to get the best possible results out of it, I imagine. This should be especially true during Induction, which is the phase of Atkins upon which all the others are built. Making compromises now and bending some rules will only lead to more compromises being made and more rules being broken in the next phases of the program. If you want to lose weight at your maximum possible rate while learning how to maintain your goal once you reach it, it's better to follow the "diet" the way Dr. Atkins designed it.
